Hi there, could someone give me a quick start how to start folding on Linux? I'm currently on Arch Linux. I don't care what my CPU folds till it's useful for CERN. Thanks Damian |

LHC@home does not "fold" anything. You may have mixed that with "Folding@home". To run CERN tasks attach your computer via BOINC after you checked the requirements. Start here, then follow the given links: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/index.php |

So the best way to do it is via BOINC? Because I saw also Sixtrack etc and I thought that would be preferred. |

Unlike Folding@home this project is a BOINC project. Hence, always via BOINC, even SixTrack. You should be familiar with the basics since you attached some Windows computers back in 2022. |

I am only familiar with BOINC on Windows. Never done it on Linux, but if the process is similar to Windows then I see no issue. Can I choose which project I want to participate in? I see many people are doing Atlas and there are almost 5k tasks in Theory Simulation. |

Can I choose which project I want to participate in? Sure: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/prefs.php?subset=project then edit your preferences. -- Bye |

@DamianToczek Please do NOT enable "Run native if available?" at the prefs page until you read/understood what native apps require as extras. If you ignore this advice the tasks will simply fail. Details can be found in the forum. |

I have installed Boinc and all the needed things and adjustments and it works but I haven't gotten any tasks yet. I assume I need to wait a little before I get any tasks? |

No, as long as you select a running project (i.e. a project with tasks ready to be sent), you'll get some work immediately. Theory, Atlas and CMS have work to be done. You haven't installed Virtualbox, BTW. -- Bye |
