Message 41542 - Posted: 12 Feb 2020, 8:38:24 UTC - in response to Message 41487.

Hi all,
apologies for the late reply.

Most of our users are analysing the simulation results, and making up their mind on the next steps.
One of our users has been submitting short tasks (10^5 turns jobs), and he should be submitting longer jobs (10^6 turns) before the end of the week, filling all the buffers.

Thanks a lot for your support!
Happy crunching,
Alessio

I have 6 computers and two android phones trying to get them. In total I've seen only 5 sixtracks today. I think we're eating them faster than you can bake them.

P.S. How come there are more Atlas tasks in the queue than Theory, yet I almost always get Theory?

Always great talking to Eric and for some reason it gives me 10,000 Sixtracks to run too.

Hope he gets back home soon.

It was a small batch, used up in a day or so. I can only assume sixtrack doesn't need so much computation done as the other tasks. It also runs on a wider variety of machines (not needing virtualbox), so more people do it.

I have 6 computers and 3 of them (the faster ones) can run CMS, Theory, and Atlas. The slow 3 can't, they cause computation errors when using virtual box, they're quite old machines. Oh well, half my machines can do LHC all the time.

What's weird though is if you allow any tasks to be downloaded, you only get Theory. It's like the Atlas and CMS ones are being taken by preference by most people. Even if you say "give me Atlas and others if you have to", you just get Theory.

"Users in past 24 hrs" means "Users in past 24 hrs who returned valid results".
Since SixTrack's validator queue got stuck the server didn't count a single valid task in the past 24 h.
ATM there's a backlog of 224383 WUs (increasing).

Validator has been down since Friday morning. So no users have had any valid tasks in the past 24 hours.
