Questions like that from Erich56 are asked again and again as soon as one of the job queues for the VM based subprojects is about getting dry. And moderators like Toby Broom and many others don't get tired to always write the same explanation. To make it clear: It's not the fault of any volunteer nor is it the fault of any moderator that the project is set up the way it currently is, i.e. a 2 stage process of WUs and then jobs inside a VM. My questions are: Shouldn't there be some kind of watchdog that stops the WU production of a subproject if it's job queue is empty? Shouldn't there be some kind of "emergency switch" or "break" that project admins can "press" to stop/reduce the WU production, e.g. if there are faulty job batches around or a software update is scheduled (see CMS a few days ago)? Shouldn't there be at least a clear explanation why the above suggestions can't be implemented? |
