thought the same, but there have not been mis-configured tasks for a long time (which obviously does not mean that it cant happen)

I tried adding more memory, but with four memory modules the speed drops down from 2666 MHz to 2133 MHz.
Do you think that the memory speed drop has a noticeable impact on the speed/efficiency/etc. of boinc/cern calculations?

thanks for your efforts - I didn't even bother to look up the stderr, since the task got finished successfully.
successful for boinc standards, not successfull for atlas standards, since there is no HITS file

no idea if that will work, but u could try to translate the python 2 script into a python 3 one with 2to3 for example

Post:
you surely have installed the "normal" python2 package, have you?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Python

and the python command is known by the system?
try typing
python --version
into the command line and see if there is an output.

im running centos 7 and i havent installed any additional python packages. the version which is in use in centos is 2.7.5 and its is working without any problem.

Although I can run ATLAS tasks with vbox, I don't do ATLAS because I keep getting the native task as well, which is really annoying. So it would be great if someone with more python knowledge than me (mine is zero) can help, or if there was an option to choose between "native" and "vbox" in the preferences.
im not 100% sure if the native atlas version is still in beta, but you could try to disable "Run test applications?" in your lhc@home preferences. if it is still in beta and you uncheck this, you will only get vbox atlas tasks, otherwise obviously not.

EDIT: was typing this while you wrote the second post, so ignore it :-)

thx for your answers, but i meant the cap that was introduced due to the server problems before the migration, i.e. the e.g. project wide 10.000 tasks cap

just a small thing:
im not 100% sure but i think that since the new storage backend is in use this "behaviour" occurs:
if you go to https://lhcathome.cern.ch/ you get forwarded to a CERN login page.
before you got forwarded to https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/index.php and thats how it should be

Can't get more than 1 ATLAS task per host/BOINC instance.
Preferences are set to 3.
Local buffers can hold several days.

Is there a server limit?
my pc has downloaded 2 tasks without a problem and is now at 1 running with 3 in local buffer (preferences for this pc are 4 tasks). so dont think that there is some kind of server limit.

The principle is more like "first come, first serve".
Isnt there also a "reliable hosts first" policy
93) Message boards : ATLAS application : My last Upload was about 194 Megabytes (Message 34781)
Posted 28 Mar 2018 by gyllic
Post:
the download and upload size (and also task runtime) depend on the task id's (i.e. different tasks) that are currently running here. so the download and upload sizes (and also task duration) will vary over time (but should be more or less constant for the same task id).

maybe you have the "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" option checked?

The new storage backend is being load tested right now. so if everything goes well the move to the new backend will probably happen in the near future and hopefully most of the problems get fixed

would a local squid proxy also enhance the efficiency of native atlas tasks (if it is supported by the native app)?
Or is the cvmfs cache sufficient and the benefits (if there are some) of an additional squid could be neglected?

a look here:
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/ATLAS/atlas_job.php
shows that recently this cap was exceeded; no idea how this was possible.

maybe they have increased the limit, it looks pretty constant right now (or it is a coincidence)

However, since within the past 2 days the server status page has always shown unsent tasks (between about 150 and several hundred), I would assume that there have in fact always been some available.

maybe its because there are so many pcs connected so the propability is pretty low that one of your pcs get the new "free" tasks.
