Bonjour

Hello
you have to blacklist Intel KVM if you install podman and virtualbox on a new installation of Linux Mint 22.
I just installed virtualbox 7,26 and not podman yet.
I’m talking about podman but it’s docker actually.

I don't think podman/docker need the blacklist only Vbox >7.22?

bonjour

hello
do you have to install podman and virtualbox on linux mint 22 to make lhc@home work?
Is there a procedure or adjustment to be made just in case?
Thank you in advance.
I’m a bit lost with all this.

merci

I agree, I know the procedure, but should we install podman and virtualbox at the same time?
Should we install linger and blacklister kvmintel in the linux kernel?
thank you

This depends on the apps you want to run.
Podman/Docker is required only for the docker version of Theory.
So far there are no Docker versions for other apps.

If you want to run ATLAS (vbox), Theory (vbox) or CMS you need to install VirtualBox.
Since you successfully ran those there's no need to change anything atm.

hello thank you for the quick response.
until now, I have never succeeded in an application theory simulation on Docker
but everything works well on virtualbox.
That’s why I’m wondering.
I calculate for all lhc@home applications.
I simply install virtualbox and podman without a linger and without a kvm Intel blacklist. I’ll leave the project to be. Could you confirm my choice?

Message 53395 - Posted: 10 Apr 2026, 11:32:58 UTC - in response to Message 53394.

Since your docker tasks fail you should configure your BOINC client not to report Podman to the project.
Please add <dont_use_docker> to the <options> section of your cc_config.xml like shown here:
<options>
   .
   .
   .
   <dont_use_docker>1</dont_use_docker>
   .
   .
   .
</options>

Then let the client read it's config files.
