Message 52471 - Posted: 5 Oct 2025, 16:24:09 UTC - in response to Message 52468.

WUs with CPU time 10 times less get 100 times less points:
Yesterday CPU time 15,780.35 got 148.07 points
Today CPU time 1,823.91 got 2.68 points

Well, i'm not so interested in points
But it's great if admin/researchers say something about science of the app. Is working ok? Some preliminary results?

Something has changed: credits awarded for the latest batch of tasks are a fraction of what was granted up until yesterday. CPU time required for 1 credit is about 500-1000 seconds which seems to be 10x as much as it used to be.

Awwwww, I got a nice amount from this secondary attempt from older patch:
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/workunit.php?wuid=235149536

Just a tiny difference... still blends in like a chameleon:

Wow, that is insane! I also got 2 resends from an older batch, now I'm curious to see if I'll get bugged credits for them as well

Yeah I got a "medium big" batch yesterday (I just have a 4 threads linux host running LHC) with "extra-mini-credits", a again a small batch (as usual) today with "small-credits-as-before" :)

Already have several rigs crunching, waiting for the first finishers.

Edit: Old i5-6200U running Linux Mint 22.1 crunched the first two in under an hour. 1 credit was granted for about 110 seconds of CPU time which seems ok.

Oh, I forgot: initial runtime estimate was a bit over a day, then it got corrected to 47 minutes even before the first task finished. 5 tasks have finished up until now and they ran between 51 and 64 minutes (50-63 CPU minutes).

Got my first error:

Edit: Oh, right, older aborted/timed out WUs that were originally sent out with 0.41 are crashing on 0.5.

v0.5 is running very nicely on AMD Epyc Milan debian, consistent progress % estimate on all tasks now, they started around 5/10 mn this afternoon and now it's more 35/40 mn, no error and I have a nice little stock (130 tasks for 4 threads) : good job guys !

since my host has received version 0.50, a few tasks were crunched okay, but most fail after 0 to 2 seconds with a computation error; stderr says:

Xboinc version of executable and input file do not match!

examlple see here: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/result.php?resultid=428083986

what's going wrong? With version 0.41, I never had this problem.

These WUs had first been sent for XTrack v0.41 and are tied to that version.
Since that version is no longer available the error will happen until all those tasks are done.

Fortunately they don't consume significant CPU time.

Hello, i've been trying to get jobs for xtrack but apparently I can't get any more since my computer has finished the daily quota of 1 task. Is this because I had 1 failed task with the version mismatch?

I'm still able to get good ATLAS tasks and CMS is still broken.

A lot of very short tasks at the moment. Some of them take less than 10 seconds, mostly less than 30 seconds. They do get validated and get credit.

Getting the same, mine are running 20-40 seconds. Probably some extreme settings that kill all particles very quickly.
