Hi,
since some weeks I struggle with lots of computation errors for LHC@home with CMS and Theory tasks. I've updated Virtual Box to latest version (7.1.6 r167084 (Qt6.5.3)) but it didn't solve it. Is there something I have to do with Vbox or is a plain installation sufficient?
I use Mac Powerbooks (Sequoia 15.3 and Monterey 12.7.6) with BOINC 8.0.2. On both Mac's I have the same behavior.
Have you any idea what I can do?
Thanks in advance, Dirk

Do you have Hypervisor enabled?

Hmm, where or what is Hypervisor? I've heard about HyperV with Windows, but on Mac? Or is it a config in Vbox?

The problem seems to be caused by vboxwrapper v26208 deployed Jan.16.
The developer(s) are working on a fix. The problem does not appear with Linux and Windows OS.

This is still a problem? Get computational error for all LHC@home work. Have virtualbox installed and boinc installed.

Since your computers are hidden nobody but you can see any details/logs.
Make them visible for other volunteers here:

I marked each check box now. But to be honest, I didn't see a check box for logs...
Thanks and best regards, Dirk

My comment was a reply to @lickingthelimelight's post.

@Dirk Langer
Your computers are running fine.
I just wonder why you waste their time running empty CMS tasks.

Oh yes, that's another annoying story. Some LHC tasks comes with an estimated resolution time of 15 minutes and need than between a day and more than 8 days. When this happens, I think about to cancel them, but sometimes, even after 8 days in in the accepted time frame I get them ready.
How can I identify such junk files?
Best regards, Dirk

Why have they been sending out empty CMS tasks for the last week or more?

i changes prefs. Dont support arm, right? So I removed the m2 m3 and m4 boxes. I left the x86 machines. None of them work. All all the boinc client installed and virtualbox. They run for other projects, too. I've set them according to the documentation. Or so I've thought.

ssue is caused by Windows (active Hyper-V) as can be seen at your computer details page:
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/show_host_detail.php?hostid=10998198
[pre]Virtualization Virtualbox (7.2.0) installed, CPU does not have hardware virtualization support
Operating System Microsoft Windows 11[/pre]
Since this has been explained uncountable times for many years please use the forum search for more details or an entry point like this:
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=6419&postid=52760

As for ARM support:
So far this project does not provide an ARM app as can be seen here:

Weird, I run virtualbox with a fedora vm without any problems. I'll take a closer look at my machines, because all 3 x86 ones can run vms in virtualbox... curious what they're missing. Thanks for your help, I'll check the docs *again* and figure it out.

*wow, nevermind, it's not worth it to disable all this stuff and modify the underlying install and disable security of the os just to be a volunteer for this project. while apparently breaking other projects. you guys dont need my help if you make it this complicated to contribute :)

Xtrack has a native Windows app, so avoids the issues with VirtualBox. Unfortunately there are currently no jobs for Xtrack. If you still have an interest in contributing to this project you might sign up for only Xtrack in your preferences. Eventually there will be some work to do. In the mean time, there are lots of other projects.
