Hello , I have a pc with an i9 14900-3 rtx 4000 sff ada-96 gigas de ram-2 teras ssd-linux mint 22-virtualbox 7.022. I calculate a single see 2 units of calculation at once because I have a low speed on my internet connection.(5 megas) If I calculate more units at the same time, my connection is saturated with oracle vm,apparently, and I have problems with other devices to access the web. Someone could tell me what I can do to avoid this problem because I would like to calculate with a maximum of threads for lhc@home. Thank you in advance |

I have a low speed on my internet connection.(5 megas) Is this download or upload? What bandwidth does your ISP deliver? downoad:_______ Mbit/s upload:_______ Mbit/s Looks like ATLAS is too heavy for your internet connection. I suggest to uncheck it in the prefs. CMS and Theory seem to be OK, but you should run a local Squid. See: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=5473 https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=5474 |

Another option: If you open BOINC Manager on your desktop, there is a tab at the top for "Options". If you open that, there is a drop-down menu and the option at the top of the list is "Computing Preferences". If you open that, there is a tab for Network. If you open that, there are options to limit download and upload rates. Disclaimer, I've never used that option, but it might be something you could test and see if it helps your situation. |
