Having recently installed BOINC on my old iMac Desktop (El Capitan 10.11.6), I noticed so far no LHC work packages have been downloaded (Einstein@home works fine). However, there is the following message from the LHC@home server: VirtualBox is not installed Samstag, 27. April 2024 um 01:14:14 Is this the reason for no LHC number crunching on my computer? What is VirtualBox and what do I need to amend the situation? Regards, Gunnar |

The majority of work at LHC project utilizes VirtualBox to run work, you can install VBox from there site https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads The reason to use Virtualisation is to make it easier for the scientists to create work since they use internally at CERN. If you don't want then you can run the SixTrac work but this is not so frequently distributed, as you have seen. |

New MacBook Pro M4 here with VirtualBox installed, yet still nothing. I assume configuration is required, but the instructional page for OSX seems to not load. Is this a sign that OSX compatibility is no more? BOINC seemed to think that OSX was good to go when adding the project. |

All provided Linux guests are x86_64 which (so far) do not run on arm VirtualBox. More details can be found here: https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/topics/Introduction.html#host-guest-matrix |
