As for this computer: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/show_host_detail.php?hostid=10830883 I reports only 5.98 GB RAM. Hence it is not recommended to run any vbox app from LHC@home on this computer. 8 GB would be the minimum for experts only. 16 GB should be the minimum for others. You may connect this computer to a separate venue where only SixTrack is enabled. Be aware that SixTrack sent out very few (nearly no) tasks within the last couple of months. As for this computer: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/show_host_detail.php?hostid=10830755 The computer reports: "Virtualbox (7.0.8) installed, CPU does not have hardware virtualization support" Hardware virtualization support must be enabled to run VMs from LHC@home. There are lots of forum posts explaining why and how to enable/test it. In addition vbox apps require permanent internet access and don't like to be suspended for more than 2h (IIRC). If you can't ensure this it is not recommended to run those kind of work. |
