Hi all,

After many years at CERN I am moving on to a new job, so I will no longer be in charge of the ATLAS part of LHC@Home. It has been an great experience working on this project and I would like to thank you all for helping to produce extremely useful physics results for the ATLAS experiment. I would also like to thank the many people who give help and support on this forum even though ATLAS is one of the more challenging BOINC apps to run.

Someone else will take over from me soon (the hiring process is on-going) to develop things further but in the meantime there should continue to be a steady stream of tasks available. I also hope to continue crunching for ATLAS as a "normal" volunteer.

Best regards,
David

This is a good news for us to see you in the future as a part of us volunteers again.
David, thank you so much for your time and knowledge for us.

It seems there was no replacement, on the LHCdev forum, computezrmle recently posted that

Since David Cameron left CERN there's no BOINC development for ATLAS.

The tasks you get are created by an automatic loop and contain just a few test events.
Once the queue is empty the same tasks are created again.
Even if a task returns valid results those are not used in a scientific matter.

Decide yourself whether it makes sense to run ATLAS -dev until CERN officially resumes development here.

Someone asked if this was also valid for LHC prod (here) but no answer so far.

Given the sporadic nature and different characteristics of each batch, I'm hopeful that the prod jobs are released by human for actual science. Would be good to confirm for sure.
