New results from a more-than-decade long physics experiment offer insight into unexplained electron-like events found in previous experiments. Results of the MicroBooNE experiment, while not confirming the existence of a proposed new particle, the sterile neutrino, provide a path forward to explore physics beyond the Standard Model, the theory of the fundamental forces of nature and elementary particles.https://www.spacedaily.com/reports/New_results_from_MicroBooNE_provide_clues_to_particle_physics_mystery_999.html |

Fermilab is becoming the main focus for neutrino physics with the DUNE experiment (Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment). A beam of neutrinos created at Fermilab will be directed to the Sanford facility (a cave under 1500 meters of rock) in South Dakota to shield the experment from cosmic rays. When a similar experiment was performed from CERN to the Gran Sasso National Lanoratory, also underground, an Italian minister fof Science and University (a lady) complimented the scientists for boring a 200 km tunnel for the neutrino beam.. Neutrinos don't need tunnels. Tullio |

The people remember that. What can be better for a politician? (Not meant too serious) ;-) |

The Sanford facility is located in the old Homestake mine in Lead, South Dakota (pronounced "leed" by the way, since they had to lead their mules up there). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homestake_Mine_(South_Dakota) That is very near to Deadwood, and the No. 10 Saloon where Wild Bill Hickcock met his end. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Style_Saloon_No._10 You could say that they drilled him. |
