12/11/2020 12:13:42 AM | | General prefs: from http://boinc.tacc.utexas.edu/ (last modified 14-Apr-2020 12:07:40) 12/11/2020 12:13:42 AM | | Computer location: home 12/11/2020 12:13:42 AM | | General prefs: using separate prefs for home I just ran the Benchmark a couple times just to take a look and it says that. I don't remember ever seeing that on my own host Benchmarks before. Why would it say " General prefs: from http://boinc.tacc.utexas.edu/ " ?? Or "Computer location: home | General prefs: using separate prefs for home" ?? That is not the location I have it set as ( I see this on 2 of my hosts yet they are actually set at Work and School) And I don't remember seeing "http://boinc.tacc.utexas.edu/" on my own General Preferences before. All the rest looks normal. |

boinc.tacc is another project and what is say is that you have made changes on there site for location home and set host to use it instead of default location. This would happen if host is told to use web pref and it post it as last changes was on that project. How TACC use settings could be different then other project but a change from default to home would need a change from user. If you want to avoid TACC go to pref from LHC: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/prefs.php?subset=global and make small change and update LHC on host and hit use web pref from LHC. Or Ignore log and make small adjustment on host and host would follow overide xml settings directly on host. Rule for client is to listen to last changed and this was done 14-Apr-2020 and no changes done since then on other project or account manager if host would use that. |

I have never had "TACC" project on these hosts. Only LHC,LHC-dev,and Atlas-Test And as far as changing the host location I do that often when I want to run Sixtracks on one and maybe VB tasks here or at -dev which is much more often than way back in April In my Boinc network preferences it was always Einstein since the beginning in 2005 and now it says that tacc url and no way to even change that setting. And I can't even move that box down to see if there is anything above that to change that setting back to how it always was. There must be some simple way but I sure can't find it and as I said I never used tacc on any of these desktops |

It doesn't matter which host you made the changes on, it always takes the settings from the last place you updated the settings. You can change the setting on LHC if you like then they will come from here. |

Why would that have "tacc" on mine EVER? I have no idea what they even do. |

I saw a message from TACC saying that they are again online but they don't send me any task. On my BOINC screensaver I see I have 16 TACC credits and zero RAC. Tullio |

@Magic: Go to your favorite project (Einstein, you wrote further on) and change anything, you even can change something with the same value. Important for you is, that really say save afterwards. This will set this project being responsable for your settings, then lat all your clients update this projekt and then all should be again as you like. @All: If I understoord TACC right, it is not a normal BOINC-Projekt, but more like a BOINC-Manager. They want to give users the chance to set up BOINC and TACC and then forget it. TACC will coordinate, what th clients will crunch and more. Supporting BOINC, a great concept ! |

Well it finally switched back to LHC after doing an update here just telling it to change to "10 days of work" just using "Computing preferences" instead of "Preferences for this project" updates. Strange thing is I didn't update "Computing preferences" since when we moved T4T over here and I have never had "http://boinc.tacc.utexas.edu/" as one of my Projects on any host. You can see by looking at my account the ones I ever have used and my only Projects have been LHC,LHC-dev, (and the older versions of that one) and Atlas-Test (as you know) and Einstein. In 2019 when there was no work to do I tried Amicable Numbers for about 2 days total and never again since we always have LHC and Einstein GPU work. But "http://boinc.tacc.utexas.edu/" is gone now and if it happens again I know what to do.........still no idea why I ever got that on any of my hosts and it didn't actually make any other difference as far as my Projects, accounts ,or team so that is all I really didn't want to happen. (sure is nice having Sixtracks here lately since it isn't internet dependable)......back to work. |
