I see various posts in here, that I don't understand fully, that imply people can look at the LHC config files on my local machine. Is this true? If so, then you can also browse my entire computer??? |

We can only see your config files when you share them or post them. Certain sites allow you to share your host configuration (showing how many hosts (PCs), how many cores, and what operating system you have). Also this you can choose to share or not share or export to stat servers, in your profile settings. |

I see various posts in here, that I don't understand fully... Fully? ... that imply people can look at the LHC config files on my local machine. Sure, directly! ... you can also browse my entire computer??? And, of course, change your root password to $@§!!+''### or something else!! <irony_OFF/> You may take a few minutes to look into other user's accounts. What you may see - if the user has set his data visible - is what the BOINC client has already transferred to the project server. That data is used to allow the project server to send the right apps and tasks. Together with the data from stderr.txt - written by every task and often stored in the task details - it allows project admins and experienced users to identify errors and/or make useful suggestions. Nobody has direct access to your computer. |
