Since the new application 2.0 for Atlas has been available, my credits have dropped significantly running these Atlas tasks compared to the previous 1.01 version. How do you assign credits? Thanks, Billy |

How do you assign credits?this is a question that no one could ever answer. I have brought up this topic a few times, and with the exception of rather dumm replies from a certain member there was never ever a logic explanation. In short words: no one knows how the credit points are assigned :-( |

Do we know what system this project is using to assign credits? Is it CreditNew? https://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/CreditNew |

I have brought up this topic a few times, and with the exception of rather dumm replies from a certain member there was never ever a logic explanation. Actually the replies given were very logical to anybody with average intelligence and a little understanding of how computers work. Apparently they were too complicated for certain dumm members who think bitching and whining about things they refuse to understand can make the impossible become possible. |

Nothing against a joke, irony or another opinion. But as soon as a post's only purpose is to insult other volunteers it is no longer in accordance with the forum rules: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/moderation.php This applies to all posts from all volunteers. |

Nothing against a joke, irony or another opinion. Agreed. Remarks like " and with the exception of rather dumm replies from a certain member there was never ever a logic explanation." are in violation of forum rules |

I use 3 hosts running ATLAS Simulation v2.73 (native_mt). It seems the longer the running time, the lower the credit amount. See : Host #1 The Good Host #2 The Bad Host #3 The Ugly Although, The Ugly has two ranges of credit, a minor and a major. Is it some incentive to upgrade for better performance per Watt ? ;-) |

as I wrote already in my above posting from Oct. 29: no-one was ever and will ever be able to explain the mysteries around credits ... |

Did you notice that granted credits per workunit are slowly decreasing? Top hosts are (obviously) affected too. Host 10624338 from UAM-LCG2 has a rac=104k. It had an almost-150k rac 1-2 month ago. Workunits were paying ~600cr., now we are approaching to 400cr. If you have a 24/7 crunching host, you can look this on your project/host graph by boinc manager. |

This is probably the system slowly adjusting to the different kind of tasks that we are running now. From September to November last year the tasks were very heavy due to more complicated physics to simulate, and were taking on average 5 times longer to complete. Then for the last couple of months we are back to easier tasks which complete quickly, so the credit is slowly decreasing. This is just my guess, I do not make any claim to understand how the credit mechanism works. |
