Yes, very interesting but nothing to do with Sixtrack or LHC@home. This describes the LHCb online triggering system.

Indeed i wrote gpu and LHC (not gpu and Sixtrack) :-)

We are developing a new library SixTrackLib which would enable GPU offloading for a large subset of SixTrack simulations. As some of you argued, we are focusing on using OpenCL 1.2 because it allows to run on AMD, Intel and Nvidia GPUs, although is less advanced than other options (OpenCL 1.2 dates back to 2011).

Seems that work is progressing (slowly)

Interesting video about gpu and LHC

Not only Lhcb with gpu, but also Alice (pag.23)

P.S.
Still waiting for sixtrack on gpu :-P

An article published in 2013 found that by using GPU, event generators can simulate Standard Model predictions at over 10x speed up compared to CPU, in some cases as much as 90x~100x.

From OpenPandemics WCG project that released a gpu app:
On average we anticipate a ~500x average speed-up in processing current packages on the mix of GPUs and CPUs from volunteers, which include from Raspberry PIs to laptops to high-end GPUs. On more powerful GPUs, we see up to 4000x speedups overall compared to a single CPU core

all this looks promising, but they are still in the testing phase. So far, I have received only a handfull of tasks within the past 2 weeks :-(
It may still take some time until this is fully on track.

The gpu app is "stable" version since two days ago.

My RTX2080 finishes them in less than 2 minutes, even more than one at the same time

Supporting BOINC, a great concept !
