i get a lot of computation errors, and ALL of them are theory native and atlas simulation tasks. not a single one has completed successfully. why is that? and yes, the theory native and atlas simulation are the ONLY tasks that fail, everything else is no problem. what's going on? in case it matters, i use BOINC 7.14.2 on ubuntu 19.04 I BOINC, therefore I am. |

You won't get much help until you show your computers. There are experts here (probably not me) who can then diagnose it. |

I have not manage to build in 19.04 as some libs been deprecated. Cern would need to make it to support 19.04. This could have changed but not sure on that. If all task failed i would check check setup. cvmfs_config chksetup Then also probe. cvmfs_config probe Does it say OK? |

CVMFS not found, aborting the job. running start_atlas return value is 1 tar cvf shared/result.tar.gz tar: Cowardly refusing to create an empty archive Try 'tar --help' or 'tar --usage' for more information. (ok that was pretty funny) |

Then also probe. 1st step would be to get a working CVMFS. Common misconfigurations are: - incomplete CVMFS settings - autofs service not configured See: https://cvmfs.readthedocs.io/en/stable/cpt-quickstart.html Try "cvmfs_config wipecache" followed by "cvmfs_config probe". If autofs is configured and the 2nd command still produces an empty output then post your /etc/cvmfs/default.local. It would also be helpful to unhide your computers at the web preferences page. |

Try "cvmfs_config wipecache" followed by "cvmfs_config probe". i tried those 2 commands (had to log into my admin account and use sudo) and the second command still doesn't give me any output. but how do i know if this autofs is configured? edit: something else just occurred to me. is it possible that my firewall is causing these problems? what port(s) and protocol(s) does cvmfs use? I BOINC, therefore I am. |

... how do i know if this autofs is configured? Did you read the docs I linked yesterday? It is explained there (section: Setting up the Software). You may also check the config files mentioned there. Try a reboot if it doesn't work after "systemctl restart autofs". ... is it possible that my firewall is causing these problems? what port(s) and protocol(s) does cvmfs use? CVMFS communicates via HTTP (TCP 80, 8000, 8080). Other ports are listed here: http://lhcathome.web.cern.ch/test4theory/my-firewall-complaining-which-ports-does-project-use In addition it might be a good idea to examine the firewall log. |

Checking CernVM in Software (cvmfs-2.6.3-1.el6, or cvmfs-2.6.2-1.el6). It can be useful to deinstall CernVM and after reboot installing the correct one. Saw also CMVFS and CVMFS2 in one Linux. This can also be a reason. |
