Does anyone know what type of 'Computation error' this is? Link to example task:https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/result.php?resultid=238737201 Link to host: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/show_host_detail.php?hostid=10596119 "2019-08-08 08:59:11 (13684): Guest Log: [ERROR] Could not connect to Condor server on port 9618 2019-08-08 08:59:11 (13684): Guest Log: [INFO] Shutting Down." Is this something on my end or the servers end? |

(old = 'Paused', new = 'Running') 2019-08-08 08:58:11 (13684): Guest Log: [DEBUG] nc: connect to vccondor01.cern.ch port 9618 (tcp) timed out: Operation now in progress Your computer paused the tasks while the VM worked through the network tests. This might have caused the error in this case. To get an idea why your computer has a high error rate some more information is required regarding your network: 1. Did you recently change your firewall setup? 2. Is this computer connected via cable (what LAN bandwidth?) or via wi-fi (not recommended). 3. How many other computers are connected to the same LAN that make heavy use of the network and/or internet. If there are any, describe how they use the network. 4. Can you describe your internet connection (upload speed, download speed, latency)? 5. How many open connections can your internet router manage concurrently? Can you check the #of open connections? In some cases there are lots of older idle connections (until they time out) and the router silently refuses to open fresh connections. |

It might be useful for other volunteers suffering from similar problems how you solved the issues. Be so kind as to post some more details. |

Seems like spreading the network load between the 2 wifi bands (2.4 and 5GHz) solved the issue. Half my hosts are on 2.4 and the other are on 5. Not 100% sure it's fixed and that this was the right method, but it's working so far and a good place to start if anyone has similar issues. Cheers ![]() |
