Hi, I am new in LHC@home.
I use a old 64bit computer running with 2GB RAM. This computer is very sensible
to summery temperature (34-43 Celsius), so I only can do jobs in the early hours of morning and at night.
I noted that progress in task sometimes increments of 0.001% every 1 or more seconds,
other times the increment is more big, from 0.007 to 0.020 and event more.
This in for me very important because is the increment is 0.001%, is for me very difficult
to finish a job in the required deadline, because the computer has to be power off
in the most warm hours of the day.
Why exists this differences in the increment?
It is possible to execute the jobs at increments more highs?
Thank you so much for help!!!

The objective of sixtrack is to find beam control parameters that result in a stable beam.
Unstable beams lead to short runtimes, stable beams lead to long runtimes.

Unfortunately BOINC prefers tasks that have nearly stable runtimes.
This leads to unreliable progress and ETA calculations.

Ignore the increments, they mean nothing.
You are caching too many tasks, that is the reason you have results with "Not started by deadline - canceled" status.
You need to reduce the number of cached tasks. In your computing preferences what are your settings for "store at least" and "store up to an additional"? Reduce those settings to half of whatever they are now. Then abort any tasks that have not started. Allow at least 24 hours for the new settings to settle out. With a CPU as slow as your Sempron you should never have more than 1 task running plus 1 task waiting to start.
Also, check to see if you have throttled the VM. It should be at least 90%.

Hi, Thank you very much for your help and explications.
I consider the progress % only because with my problem
with summery temperatures, I am not very sure to finish
a job before the deadline.
I modified my settings following your help.
Again, Thank you!!!
