I have had 3 tasks in a row (and would probably have more if I had not stopped the download) which failed after a few seconds; here they are:
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/result.php?resultid=236604717
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/result.php?resultid=236601954
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/result.php?resultid=236586121

any idea what is the problem?

... any idea what is the problem?

2019-07-03 15:46:35 (11780): VM is no longer is a running state. It is in 'GuruMeditation'.
2019-07-03 15:46:35 (11780): VM state change detected. (old = 'Running', new = 'GuruMeditation')

This lines in your logs point out a "GuruMeditation" error.

A GuruMeditation is a serious VirtualBox error possibly caused by:
- a corrupt vdi file (-> download a fresh vdi or do a project reset)
- an outdated/corrupt VirtualBox installation (-> reinstall VirtualBox)
- a VBoxExtension that doesn't match the VirtualBox version (-> install the Extensions that match your VBox version)
- unspecific other errors (-> reboot your computer)

computezrmle, thanks for your hints.

I rebooted the computer - did NOT help :-(

I deleted the vdi and downloaded a new one - did NOT help.

The other steps I will do tomorrow.

What catches my eye though is that the one task which is still running okay on this PC says "Theory similation 263.90".
The ones which fail show "263.95".
See here: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/results.php?hostid=10450564
So, obviously there has been a new version introduced today which does not work with all machines :-(

Not that it would help with the current problem but you should do a clean install of a new VB version since one I checked is VB released October 17 2017

I only have the newest on one of mine just because I don't trust it yet but I do have the newest 5.2.xx version on most of them (Version 5.2.30 )

We still are trying to get these to run complete and finish and turn them in Valid on their own without anyone having to do that gracefully

Especially when it comes to d/ling the new vdi's when you have a house full of computers doing this.......it gets most Boinc members to run as fast as the LHC to another project like Einstein.

Over the years over at Virtualbox forum I have seen the Critical Error Guru Meditation topic many times.( errors in the virtual machine monitor)

I now installed VB 5.2.30 (May 2019) - and the problem seems to be solved :-)
