I've been using the 6.0.0 Release Candidate 1, Build 127378 without issue, although I did have to run the installer "as Administrator". I see the actually released upgrade is build 127566 so presumably they've fixed the install. I'll change over to the Official Release in the next day or so.

All my hosts are Win10.

2 hosts done. I let the VMs Save before the upgrade and all 6 over the 2 machines Restored correctly 8¬)

1 host still to do; it turned itself off overnight and one of the Tasks reset its time to zero after c.11hrs actual runtime so now, at 21hrs, 47% elapsed, it still claims 24hrs remaining. Just curious to see how long it will go.
[a little shy of 27hrs]

I have running 6.0.8 last week and the issue with 'missing heartbeat' (killing a task),

I sometimes saw with versions 6.0.0 and 6.0.2, I did not see so far, although stressing my system during the Pentathlon ;)

Hope this is the right place...
Some upgrade screwed up my VB install a while ago, so I dug around and managed to get 5.something working, but it would always fail to show the VM display windows in CMS@Home:
execvp(rdesktop-vrdp, localhost:42529) failed with error 2!
cat: standard output: Bad file descriptor
[11184:11215:0521/224721.520720:ERROR:browser_process_sub_thread.cc(217)] Waited 8 ms for network service

So last night I dug around again and came up with VB 6.0.8 r130520 (Qt5.6.1), but now tasks fail within 10 seconds: https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/result.php?resultid=2778838
2019-05-22 01:07:59 (13568):
Error in start VM for VM: 1
Command:
VBoxManage -q startvm "boinc_6dff299d7bbb25bc" --type headless
Output:
VBoxManage: error: The virtual machine 'boinc_6dff299d7bbb25bc' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1)
VBoxManage: error: Details: code NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005), component MachineWrap, interface IMachine
Waiting for VM "boinc_6dff299d7bbb25bc" to power on...

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? It happens in both lhcathome.cern.ch and lhcathomedev.cern.ch.

When you don't have any tasks running or paused/suspended, are BOINC-slots empty and in VirtualBox File Manager are there no remnants of old VM's?

[homepc01:BOINC] > ls -R slots
slots:
0 1

slots/0:

slots/1:
When I run virtualbox no old (or indeed any!) VMs are seen.

Did you rebuild the vbox kernel modules?

No VMs must be running.
Then run as root "rcvboxdrv setup".

Hmm, I had done sudo vboxconfig but when I used your suggestion it still seemed to have similar results:

You are running outside WLCG.
What's about using openhtc.io instead of the old Definition for a better Performance?
