When running WU's I can choose the unlimited option and manage the utilization of my computer myself or I can use the web options and use the limts defined by project.

However when choosing the unlimited option the Working Set is quite large and BOINC thinks the memory is over commited, therefore does not start additional work.

Does anyone know a way to adjust on the client?

The working set size is included in the scheduler reply sent by the project server.
At least up to client version 7.8.4 it is not possible to change the value on your local host.
