Hi guys, I have been resetting most of my projects running in BOINC, specially lhc@home, to remove the several GBs of files left behind after their tasks have finished. I always make sure that there is no current task running for any project at the moment of the reset. Is this something that is OK to do? How does it affect in regards of credits/tasks completed in each of my project accounts? I have noticed that in lhc@home it only shows the last task completed/validated and another that is still running. Any other way to get rid of the junk left behind? Does BOINC erase them automatically after a while? Thank you in advance, |

Also, lhc@home does not seem to upload any results after finishing the tasks. The log only shows 3 lines: - Computation for task xxxxxxxxx finished - Sending scheduler request: To report completed tasks. - Reporting 1 completed tasks |

... to remove the several GBs of files left behind after their tasks have finished. ... Do you refer to the files in your folder "projects\lhcathome.cern.ch_lhcathome", e.g. the vdi files? Those files are not junk if you plan to run more jobs for the distinct subprojects. Would be helpful if you could post a list of your "junk" files. How does it affect in regards of credits/tasks completed ... It should not be affected. Also, lhc@home does not seem to upload any results after finishing the tasks. The log only shows 3 lines: That's OK. The results are uploaded from within the VM. Your BOINC client doesn't know that. |

Hello computezrmle, yes, they're mainly the .vdi files taking up most of the space, so I'll leave them be and stop resetting the projects. Also thanks for explaining the results upload process. Thanks a lot! |
