Hello,

I am receiving 4 CPUs tasks on my 2 CPUs processor that has HyperThreading enabled (2x Threads per CPU) which will result in an apparent 4 CPUs which are actually 4 Threads and I presume that is why the tasks that I receive remain forever in the state "ready to start".

Is there a solution to "force" them start ? Or is there a way to fetch only 2CPUs tasks ?

Thx.

Cpu: Intel Core i5-4210M
Ram: 8GB
OS: Windows 10, 64bit
Boinc version: 7.8.2

Update:
after 30min the status changed to "Waiting for memory"

You have a small RAM. I am using only one CPU on 2 Linux boxes with 8 GB RAM, 2 CPUs on a Windows 10 PC with 22 GB RAM. The CPU, A10-6700, is sold as 4 cores but the Windows Task Manager sees 2 cores and 4 logical processors.

Go to your project preferences and set Max # jobs to 1 and Max # CPUs to 2 and ask new tasks.

Hi,

I am running 4-core tasks with 2 cores, HyperThreading and 8Gbytes RAM with no problems on that host: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/show_host_detail.php?hostid=10420599
My settings at LHC@Home preferences are:
- Max # jobs: 6
- Max # CPUs: 4
No specific app_config.xml file.

You may not have enough memory. Try three cores per work unit.
