I wonder what is the average task length. We can see some averages on the Server Status. It would be interesting to see averages by Study. When I can, I shall write some scripts to analyse the Database. I do know some scans are being run as a preliminary to more detailed studies. I would expect these to have a lower than average run time, but at least a few seconds. Whole topic fudged by the null/empty fort.10 problem. Eric. (It MIGHT be possible to change the loop order to have an outer loop over amplitudes perhaps ensuring a better distribution of run times. Maybe scans should be run on LSF, declared obsolete! Maybe there should be preliminary, preliminary studies to be more reasonable. Out of my depth. I also wonder why the overhead is so high ...I believe the user is always right and the system should cope :-) . Eric. |

Well a good question, not so easy to answer (for now). SixTrack has three phases, pre-processing. tracking. and post-processing is (almost) negligible CPU seconds, The pre-processing should be a few 3? seconds or more. The time consuming phase is tracking. If all particles are lost very quickly e.g. at high amplitudes, then the tracking time may be close to zero but not zero seconds. This time is stored in the last word 60 of each very long line of fort.10. I can find the total CPU seconds in the database. If there is a problem with initial conditions then the total time will probably be less than 20 seconds say. As of today and the past few years, these cases will return an empty/null fort.10. HOWEVER, we are getting back empty/null fort.10 result files without an error code due to infrastructure problems, Network?, Windows?, whatever. If we get 2 empty fort.10 they are validated, and the poor volunteer who ran for a couple of hours gets invalidated and no credit. I am trying to get my head round this. Sometimes, when I can, I rerun the case myself, and I have never seen a null/empty fort.10 i.e. the initial conditions are good. I strongly believe in an infrastructure problem. (I have had a fix for a couple of years but it is not yet in production :-(....). The bottom line is that Tasks with less than 3 seconds say of CPU are "suspicious". This does give me the idea of looking at all such Tasks, which I have been trying to do. However I can't just ban hosts with less than 3 CPU seconds as it could be my supposed infrastructure problem. What a dilemma. Hope to have the new SixTrack soonest. A fix to reject null/empty results is inadequate. Well it will help, but I can't just ban the host. At least we will not get valid "invalid" results. I could then collect statistics on Date, Time, OS, Model, and whatever....... What a conundrum. Eric. |

Well I finished all the SixTrack tasks I could get and back to zero in progress. 30 pending,3 inconclusive,and 78 Valid https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/results.php?userid=5472 Tried to get more but all I got are Theory tasks. |

My colleagues Alessio and Riccardo appear to have fixed this. SixTrack work should now be being distributed. I am now getting new tasks myself. Eric. |

I'm getting WUs on the PC (Win10 64 bit) no problem, but nothing at all on the Android tablet. Are there any tasks going out for this platform? sQuonk Plague of Mice Intel Core i3-9100 CPU@3.60 GHz, but it's doing its bit just the same. |

I'm getting WUs on the PC (Win10 64 bit) no problem, but nothing at all on the Android tablet. At the moment for Android only the sixtracktest (beta test) application is available, but the number of those test tasks (for all OS's) is very low and are distributed very seldom. |

Thanks! It got some tasks now after it completed other tasks that were due soon. Usualy i am not noticing those "no work", but today I checked on that due to message was received that it might be some issues. All is well now and on to work! :) |

There isn't an apple support yet, if you have sixtrack test sometimes there is some I think I got 1/2 It's coming though..... |
