Sixtrack tasks come in "waves". At the moment there are no available, but sooner or later there will be another patch of sixtrack tasks again. CMS does have some problems right now, so no tasks are available. But according to this post https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=4688&postid=36457 there should be available CMS tasks soon. There are still Theory and LHCb tasks you can crunch if the ATLAS tasks dont work for you. Check the server status page where you can see which tasks are available: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/server_status.php |

Yes there was some SixTrack yesterday but they all went. Theory is reliable for work, CMS has work but is light as it's mostly testing. LHCb has work |

Any idea when more Sixtrack tasks will become available? (I'm asking this in view of the fact that lately there have been troubles with LHCb as well as Theory tasks; only ATLAS seems to work flowlessly at this point of time). |

After reading the thread I don't feel so bad. I haven't received work for ages. Tried all the advised tricks but nothing. |

Our Sixtrack team are fine-tuning a new executable. There should be work soon, at least in a couple of weeks. Sorry for the Sixtrack pause, meanwhile please feel free to crunch ATLAS, LHCb or Theory if you computer allows you to do so. |

new tasks are being downloaded, all running less than 5 minutes. :) |

too bad that they are all used up now. No new ones available :-( There is enough, but the clients are absorbing the tasks faster than they are created. |

It seems to have been a very small batch with only 33k workunits (66k tasks). |

yes, one of our users is preparing a large batch of jobs. It should arrive soon, most probably already early next week |

On Oct. 18, Nils wrote Our Sixtrack team are fine-tuning a new executable. There should be work soon, at least in a couple of weeks.from what I think I remember from the few tasks one of my machines crunched yesterday, it was still the old software, or am I wrong? |

If possible, could you prepare tasks with longer runtimes than only a few minutes? This would take away lots of pressure from the project server. |

It's not possible based on the science that is under study. If the beam is unstable then it will crash the particles into the wall and the WU is finished. It's sort of random which WU will last a long time. Also I think it not so interesting for the science to make a beam that lasts a very long time as the luminosity goes down as the number of particles in the beam is lower so they will dump the beams after a threshold. |

I got SixTrack tasks both on the Windows 10 PC with the Ryzen CPU (eight running tasks) and on the two older Linux boxen. Tullio |
