Hi,

I am getting a lot of authentication errors today, cannot join any computers and also sometimes on the website. Are you having any problems?

Cheers,

Andrej

Do you have a recent BOINC client? 7.2.x or later?

Older BOINC clients may not work with https.

That is correct, 7.6.33 on Windows, 7.6.31 on Linux, both throw the error when attaching the project. On Linux I work directly via shell, no gui, on Win via Boinc Client standard.

Your profile shows 2 computers:
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/hosts_user.php?sort=rpc_time&rev=0&show_all=1&userid=504648
1 is running windows 10,
1 is running windows 7.
Both got WUs from the sixtrack subproject.

Be so kind as to describe your problem more detailed.

Okay, I have 2 more Linux machines, running Ubunt with Kernel 4.4.0-75-generic, shell only, no gui. I try to add the project via shell with

boinccmd --project_attach https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome <weak account key from my profile>

and I get

Operation failed: authentication error

When I try to do that with Boinc Tasks or the standard boinc client, I get an error

AddProject: Error -224

Whatever that means...

Maybe you could try the following:

Create the xml-file account_lhcathome.cern.ch_lhcathome.xml with contents:

<account>
<master_url>https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/</master_url>
<authenticator>xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx</authenticator>
<project_name>LHC@home</project_name>
</account>

I would use the strong authenticator.
Put that xml-file in BOINC's data-directory and restart BOINC.

Thanks CP for the help!

On my Linux box, I simply use this command from the command line:

boinc_client --attach_project https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/

My client is 7.6.22 and it also worked fine with 7.2.42.
