This new version disables the VM screen saver so that screen shots will not just show a blank screen.

I still get v262.70.
Did you restart the service?

Hi there

Download of new tasks with v262.90 ends up with download error and client trying to download new task with new VM image again and again (so actually set to no new tasks).

In BOINC directory I could see that the vdi.gz gets downloaded and a verify_temp file appears, vdi gets unpacked and than the error occurs in BOINC manager.

Stderr output:

<core_client_version>7.6.33</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
app_version download error: couldn't get input files:
<file_xfer_error>
<file_name>Theory_2017_04_20.vdi</file_name>
<error_code>-231 (encryption error)</error_code>
</file_xfer_error>

They need some quality control at CERN. I am usually willing to give it another go, but there is only so much that I can do.

This new version disables the VM screen saver ...

It´s now version 263.00 and it blanks the screen after 10 min.

I don't. But it looks like a BOINC client issue rather than the application. The tasks are aborted.

After updating VirtualBox to 5.1.22 on my HP SuSE Leap 42.2 I got a Theory task 263.00 and it seems to be running. I keep my fingers crossed.

I'm not sure if the highlighted entry in your logfile is responsible for the failure.
At least the line does not show up in a couple of logs from other users.
It may be that for some reason your account is incomplete or messed up.
You may detach from and reattach to the project.
If the errors persist an admin may check your account at CERN.

This is not a problem but suggests the configuration is done via the command line.

No, both on the Windows 10 PC and the Linux laptop with SuSE Leap 42.2 64-bit I have used BOINC manager to connect. The standalone LHC projects used to run now they don't. Only on the SUN WS with SuSE 42.2 I have used the command line BOINC since the BOINC manager does not run for unknown reason and it crunches Einstein@home both on the Opteron 1210 CPU and the GPU, a GTX 750 Ti,giving me tons of credits, more than 100k RAC.

As a test, I disconnected and reattached the Windows 10 PC using BOINC Manager

Two Theory BOINC tasks running on the Windows 10 PC with CPU usage close to zero.
I am going to abort them.

Just got 2 new Theory tasks and notice a regression to 262.70 which is now what is shown as the latest version on the Applications page. I'm guessing the higher number versions have been having too many problems and we have reverted to the earlier, more stable version from January.

Testing a new version seems good so far.

They all fail on my Linux laptop. The 2 cores Opteron 1210 running SuSE Leap 42.2 runs 2 Einstein CPU tasks and one GPU task It is a SUN workstation of vintage 2008.Boinc client is command line, boincmgr does not work.

I have been running an old 32-bit Image with no problems for months.
Only today tasks error out, not getting any jobs.

This means, the problem is on the server side, not the new Image.

Yes, there still is a problem on the server side. There are jobs but only a trickle.
