Hello!

I would just like to point out the high rate of inconclusive results in the WU sent over the last few days. (Almost 10% for me)

Almost all of my inconclusives were paired with a Apple Darwin application which finished the task in a few seconds. The third task has not been sent yet (unsent).

Sorry if I missed it, but I'm just wondering if something can or is being done about this. I'm still building up inconclusive results with apple-darwin wingmen and some WUs are three days old without a third task being sent out.

I seem to recall this being talked about a while ago and at that time it looked like the 3rd sending would go to the BACK of the queue so with there currently being a lot of Sixtrack tasks available, it might be some time before these get reissued. It would seem sensible to get these out and returned sooner so as not to clog up the server. I don't know if there's a scheduler setting that would change the priority in favour of resends to put them to the FRONT of the queue rather than the back. My earliest inconclusives have been hanging around since 23rd.
All the ones I have looked at, similarly, have Darwin wingmen. One user on the Mac thread notes a rate of 50/50, valid versus inconclusive.

MEA CULPA; the MacOS version is incompatible with the Linux/Windows.
Version 4530 has a minor bug fix in the RIPPLE code but it gives different
results. Hope to consolidate in a week or so with new updated versions
everywhere. The current 4530 MacOS is withdrawn. Eric.

Hello,

I have some task with inconclusive results, all with computer 10377786 as wingman.
All task of this computer seems to get inconclusive results or error.
Some other computer like 10389447 or 10404779 also produce a lot of inconclusive results.

Hi,

This may help you to blacklist a specific host.

It was said in a previous thread.

Well I have had a first look and Host 10377786 is 100% OK.
I did find some problems with Host 10404779 which may be a
server problem (CERN side) or network. The failure rate is
roughly 50%. I am trying to watch this.

The overall error rate, all tasks, is below 1% which I think is
even below the average (I reckon around 2% is "normal").
Eric.

My inconclusive results are building again. Granted it's not a high percentage, but most are with wingman Computer 10451497. That host has returned >1700 inconclusives in the past few days.

I think this host has a problem.
Only errors while computing, no validation conclusive.

Please , do something to stop it.
ID: 10517247

An algorythm or script may be interesting to detect these consecutive errors...(more than 30 consecutive errors --> host suspended).

I had the same request not too long ago. I have since found out, the issue might resolve itself. From the BOINC documentation:

BOINC's work distribution policy addresses the (sometimes conflicting) goals of keeping hosts as busy as possible, while minimizing the impact of

Hosts that repeatedly return results with error outcomes, due to a host-specific problem.
Malicious participants who attempt to obtain multiple results of the same workunit, in an attempt to obtain unearned credit or have erroneous results accepted as correct.

It may help probably the project , i have found this in the boinc documentation too :

Blacklisting hosts

To blacklist a host, set its max_results_day field to -1. This will cause all of its scheduler requests to return an error message and do nothing else (no jobs or trickle messages will be sent or received).

Have one of this inconclusives:
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/workunit.php?wuid=82044459

Wait for the next result that will be reported.
It will either confirm your result (good for you) or the result of your wingman (good for your wingman).

Agreed..
I restarted crunching here a few days ago and already I have 87 Validation inconclusive from 5 PC's. So far I have no errors or invalids. Also most of the other wingman involved seem to reliable hosts that have little if any invalids or errors as well, so i'm wondering whats going on?
Anyone else seeing this?
