Hi,

I take part with the actual race.

Server-Status-Page says 260.000 WUs to send for sixtrack, but my clients get "No work available for Sixtrack"

21/01/2017 14:17:50 | LHC@home | update requested by user
21/01/2017 14:17:53 | LHC@home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
21/01/2017 14:17:53 | LHC@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU
21/01/2017 14:17:55 | LHC@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
21/01/2017 14:17:55 | LHC@home | No tasks sent
21/01/2017 14:17:55 | LHC@home | No tasks are available for SixTrack
21/01/2017 14:18:06 | LHC@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
21/01/2017 14:18:06 | LHC@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU
21/01/2017 14:18:07 | LHC@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
21/01/2017 14:18:07 | LHC@home | No tasks sent
21/01/2017 14:18:07 | LHC@home | No tasks are available for SixTrack

And yes, I'm connected to the right URL, and my clients have already crunched several WUs of different Apps from LHC, but now I only want Sixtrack-WUs

Could you please give the server a kick ...

We are having problems with the feeder. I have restarted the server daemons, but it does not flow faster just with a restart.

We now removed the -allaps flag, to see if this increases the speed of sixtrack dispatching.

Ive been having this problem a lot lately too, including right now.

190,117 work units ready to send, but I haven't been able to download one all day. :(

I too am having this problem. Recently my biggest cruncher managed to download a few tasks but they all completed in under two minutes and were uploaded back to the project.

2 or 3 days ago I crunched SixTrack tasks, but now I'm getting the "No tasks are available for SixTrack. Virtualbox is not installed" message. I'm not signed for the other projects and I never had Virtualbox.

I am getting SixTrack in bunches both on the Windows PC and the Linux box. Then it stops. Is it a Poisson distribution?

Just adding this in case it helps... While two of my hosts seem to get tasks, eventually, two others still get the "No tasks are available for SixTrack" messages.

Its been daysand still no work units. meanwhile the stats page still says theres 180,000+ plus.

Is it possible the system is set to only give any individual host a fix amount of work units and no more,as a way to try to make sure everyone gets some?
And now that there are tons of work units, everyone has maxed out their quota and the 'feeder' server has no one to give all this work to?

That's what it has felt like to me.

Sorry to hear you're having problems. Fortunately for me, my four hosts have generally been getting enough work today to keep them busy; however, each one's cache has rarely been full. Work seems to come in batches with long periods of "no tasks available" messages in between.

I believe there is a limit to the number of tasks in progress -- something around 10 tasks per core/thread, perhaps. Hopefully the admins can identify any issues and get the work flowing more smoothly again.

The Limit is only your own queue-settings

Fiiiiiiinally some work units again!

Whenever I'm doing LHC, since work units are always generally sparse,I keep my client set to 10 days/10 days to try to get as many downloaded to me as I can. I rarely ever get more than a day or so's worth. Right now I have about 45 or so work units in my queue. At least that's something. SCIENCE!

Are you sure about that? I continue to get "This computer has reached a limit on tasks in progress" messages on all of my hosts and I have no "Max # of jobs" limit set. Now that I look more closely, it seems to be 14 tasks/core. Am I missing another setting somewhere?

In the past there was no limit like that, I just checked one of my clients and maybe you are correct: it has 3 Cores to Crunch and 42 WUs.

My biggest cruncher still repeatedly runs out of work despite the project page showing hundreds of thousands of sixtrack units available. As I type this, the aforementioned machine will need only about an hour, and certainly no more than two, to complete the tasks it possesses.

Requesting more work seldom produces additional downloads, and when it does, a few tasks trickle in. Ironically, the other two machines I employ for this project's benefit are far slower, so they seldom if ever seem to run out of work.

This pattern seems to persist for hours -- no work, idle machine, maybe a few tasks here and there -- and then suddenly the floodgates open and the task lists is full once again.

All of our contributions are charitable in nature and it is ungracious to complain that we cannot help because we cannot get work. But it is so much fun to rack up credit!

I am only guessing, but I think the issue here is related to the validation problem discussed on the MacOS executable thread. Right now, there is a large number of inconclusives in the DB but they are not yet sending out the tiebreakers. (Because they are still working on a fix.) That's how the server status can show WU's to send but none are actually going out.

Well yes, my BAD MacOS executable is complicating things but there is a deeper problem I
think in issuing WUs. We are indeed investigating. The new executables are another issue.
Eric.
