Hello everybody,
after some few technical problem in the last few days, we are now ready to submit a first Tune Scan for the Dynamic Aperture study we are performing at CERN.
This simulations will give us a first hint on how the HighLuminosity upgrade for the LHC will work, and in particular the effect of the Beam-Beam interaction will be analysed.
This will be only the first bunch of simulations, because various scenario are possible for this upgrade, and we need to deeply investigate each one of them to decide which one is the one that better fit our requirements...so keep you machine ready to crunch!!

Missed them.

BOINC Manager on my PC requested work from this project at 10:09 GMT and got nothing. So where did all of the tasks go?

@ dbanfi: If you want to supply work to all machines it needs to be 50000 jobs at least.
If you have less it's not really necessary to make an announcement. They will be gone too fast.

I was lucky and finally got 6 Tasks this morning which are all being crunched (Windows 7, INTEL i7-2600) but generally most are grabbed almost as soon as they are pushed to the server.

At one time there was a limitation on how many Tasks could be "grabbed" by a single account. This was done so that more people could participate. In fact it also resulted in Tasks getting turned around quicker because they weren't setting on someone's machines waiting to run.

Looks like the batches become bigger. I have my share and at this moment there are more then 2000 ready to send.

I was lucky and finally got 6 Tasks this morning which are all being crunched (Windows 7, INTEL i7-2600) but generally most are grabbed almost as soon as they are pushed to the server.

At one time there was a limitation on how many Tasks could be "grabbed" by a single account. This was done so that more people could participate. In fact it also resulted in Tasks getting turned around quicker because they weren't setting on someone's machines waiting to run.

That rule is still there, I can "only" get 8 tasks for my dual cores and 16 tasks for my dual core with HT.

Hi, I submitted something like 80kjobs, but unfortunately for the kind of study I'm doing I cannot summit in a "parallel" way...so the submission takes some time and the charge is spread over few hours.
I know that probably make an announcement is not necessary, but I like to let people know what we are going to do with their machine! :D

Thats fine, the more you can tell us whats going on (even if its way over out heads) the more friendly a project becomes!

I think that is a great way to get the WU spread out with getting quick response times.

I have seen the WU get taken over a span of 5 minutes-
looking at the BOINC event log, and doing an update every minute for 5 minutes.

I had set my preferences-network to 0.8 days.

So what do you think?
How many wu should I try to get?
What is the best way to even out the distribution?
Is it even possible to ask volunteers to limit the 'additional work buffer'??

Any news on new work? I haven't seen anything form LHC@home in weeks. I'm still knocking out the test4theory projects but was hoping to do more. Please let me know. Barry
