An exciting day; a new particle and maybe even the Higgs boson itself. We have been busy preparing new executables for BOINC, including a MAC executable. Sadly we have run out of disk space and there are likely to be some hiccups for the next few hours, hopefully not longer. We have three new executables for both Windows and Linux: run anywhere, use SSE2, use SSE3. The run anywhere is slow but every little helps. The executable for MAC requires at least SSE3 I believe and the exact requirements are not well understood as I write. I am currently running tests on as many types of hardware as I can. The disk full situation can cause havoc and certainly explains why you have not been able to get more work for the last hours. More news as soon as we make some progress. Thanks for your continued support which will to make an even better LHC for 2015. Eric. |

Something has gone seriously wrong. I, and a number of others, are unable to get new Tasks. It may be related to running Windows 7 x64. I've tried everything. I've suspended my other Projects and then Updated only LHC but even that doesn't get new Tasks. It's clear from comments by others that they can get new Tasks but there have been a number of postings where nothing gets sent. |

I guess it will be Monday at the earliest when someone at CERN looks into this. Wonder if there is a way for any of the moderators to send a PM? Seems a shame to wait all weekend... Regards, Bob P. |

......It may be related to running Windows 7 x64. i don't think so. my i7 running Win 7 x64, get tasks my i5 running Win 7 x64, get no tasks my other get also no tasks they wrote about a disk full situation.... |

But you would think that if it is a disk full situation it would not serve Tasks to anybody. |

Seem to have a lot of problems right now. I see three main issues. 1) Volunters do not seem to get work on Windows (7?). I actualy suffered myself but started getting new tasks around 05:15 GMT today. 2) Performance and the use of the three different executables seems to be not working correctly. 3) The MAC executable appears to lack portability in some as yet unknown way. I'll try and update the Threads on the Message Boards on Monday after examining logs and messages with my colleaues. I also want to finally publish my paper on numeric portability but first I also ned to check all rejected results which I believe must be due to over-clocked CPUs or other hardware failures. Eric. |

Hi om; I am a very worried man indeed. I am not a sys admin though (although I have been in my earlier life) and indeed I hope we can make progress on Monday. Eric. P.S. I did start getting work this morning on one of my PCs a Windows 7 64-bit Intel............maybe Igor did something. The disk full issue is resolved. |

I got some WUs on one machine this morning too. And now the error message is different : it was "No task sent" before, and it changed to "No task available" which is normal since server status is showing no more WUs to send. Also, validation seems a bit more complicated for this batch ... I'm seeing quite a lot of errors from my wingmen, so my WUs are not yet validated. |

Submitting more WUs right now. Eric. |

I got some WUs just a few minutes ago but I had to "pump" the system to get them. One thing I noticed on the new WUs, while the Elapsed time... is incrementing, the Remaining time... is also incrementing. This is NOT the case on other Projects so it would not seem likely to be related to the version of BOINC (7.0.28) I'm running. Windows 7 (x64), Intel i7-2600, 16GB RAM. Tom |

Thanks Eric, getting new wu's now. The CPU capabilities recognition still acting out though. I updated on my Intel Q9400 Boinc version to 6.12.34 from 6.10.58 to see if that makes any difference but alas no. It's running Vista 32 bit and getting only the generic version of sixtrack.exe. My i7 laptop on win 7 64 bit (Boinc 6.12.34) that used to get the sse3 application correctly is now getting the generic version of sixtrack.exe. |

It's running Vista 32 bit and getting only the generic version of sixtrack.exe. It appears some of the applications have been removed from the server, perhaps that was the cause of the previous problem. At least we are getting some work until the issue is resolved this coming week! Regards, Bob P. |
