Running Boinc 4.13 LHC sixtrack 4.46 on Windows XP SP2 (laptop). I had set my preference to:
Confirm before connecting to Internet? Yes

Yet, whenever it's LHC's turn and it needs to upload or ask for more work, it tries to connect directly without asking for confirmation. When I'm connected to a LAN, it's not a problem, but when I'm in off-line mode, it's a problem. Thanks

That setting is only valid if you connect via modem, but is buggy at best.

The developers are aware of this, but all modem related problems seem to be at the bottom of the list(from what I've read in the forums, anyway)

@AL,

Since you connect over a LAN and not a MODEM, check File/Disable Boinc Network Access to keep Boinc from contacting any servers. Then, when you are connected to your LAN and want to connect, uncheck it to allow Boinc to contact the project server to upload/download and Report. Assuming the project servers are up, your completed results files will then upload, and if the scheduler is running you should be able to report your completed results manually (right click on the project, then click update) and download new WU's.

Cheers,

Stephen

Seems to work (although I have to check this option everytime I start Boinc again). Thanks
