| Description | An international society which values friendship, art and humor founded in 1859 in Prague, Bohemia. It was the lack of tolerance during the 19th century in Europe that spurred its founding. The snobbishness and arrogance of the upper class society, prompted forming a round table, the first 'Schlaraffia' - a name with no real meaning. With this they formed a timeless playing field for men who cherish friendship and humor, and who devote themselves to the arts in the widest sense of interpretation. Within the framework of a joyful and humorous play they poked fun at the nobilities and authorities and most of all at themselves. |
