I downloaded a bunch of them on a Windows 10 PC today, with two Atlas. I do this when Science United, in which the PC is enlisted, does not download a lot of Milkyway@home tasks, both CPU and GPU. I was one of the Test4Theory@home beta testers, and received a warm hardcopy letter from Ben Segal and two others. Thanks!

I have been a LHC member since 2008. Recently I enlisted in the program Science United according by an invitation by David Anderson and gave my interests as astronomy, physics and chemistry It is a Windows 8.1 PC with a Linux Virtual Machine. It runs mostly MilkyWay@home and Asteroids@home but also LHC@home tasks on both Windows and Linux. Since I am an anonymous Science United user, I cannot get any credit but a weekly letter by a BOINC Admin informs me of the number of tasks I have done. So far I have done 85 LHC@home tasks, failing 11, probably CMS tasks which fail also on my main machine, a Windows 10 PC. Since removing McAfee from it it runs also Theory tasks, besides Atlas tasks and SixTrack tasks which it ran before on its AMD Ryzen 5 1400 CPU with 8 cores. I limited Atlas to 4 cores, so it can run 4 other tasks. Ciao Ben and Happy New Year.

I too have an AM10-6700. It runs 4 tasks plus one GPU task. It is sold as 4 cores but the Windows Task Manager of Windows 8.1 says it has two cores an 4 logical processors. It runs also a SuSE Linux Tumbleweed Virtual Machine with kernel .5.3.12. I have enlisted it in Science United and it runs mostly Milkyway@home and Asteroids@home plus SETI@home tasks. Their credits are not given to me, this is the main disadvantage of running Science United tasks.

Thanks Crystal. Going by trial and error I have reduced the number of CPUs to 6 only on this host, which is in the work location. I am now running one Atlas@home task on 6 cores and two Theory tasks on the remaining two cores. I may cur down the number of CPUs to 4, that is enough for Atlas.

But I am not stopping and starting. My PCs run 24/7 and the one dedicated to LHC WBox tasks has a Ryzen 5 1400 CPU and 24 GB RAM. Only Atlas@home tasks take all 8 cores. Is this the problem?

After solving the problem with Theory on computer 10570592 by uninstalling the McAfee virus protector, CMS@home tasks start running but condor stops running after 64277 s in two tasks.

Yes, no task was running except Atlas@home and SixTrack. When I bought this Omen HP computer two years ago it had McAfee installed. When McAfee asked for a renewal of the contract, which I never signed, I refused and uninstalled it. Now all LHC tasks seem to be running.

Since I have no longer the McAfee virus protection on my computer 10570592 but only Windows Defender on Windows 10 it is now running also Theory@home tasks besides Atlas@home. One CMS@home so far failed but I will try again.

I have two nVidia cards on 2 different PCs and I load the latest drivers from nVidia. I use them on SETI@home, Einstein@home and GPUGRID, The funny thing is that sometimes the latest drivers fail, especially in SETI, and you have to load older drivers. The drivers are meant for gamers, not science tasks, I am not a gamer.

Yes, your CPU will get hot. SixTrack is CPU intensive. Many systems
throttle back the CPU(s) when the temperature rises.

Thanks for your support. Eric

My Ryzen 5 1400 runs 8 SixTrack tasks at a time without any problem. But many VirtualBox Atlas tasks are classified as invalid.
