Posted 22 Dec 2012 by jay Post: Hey there, I've been supporting WCG for quite a while. My impression is that they have found actual uses for some of the the simulation results. The hard part is to pick a sub-project. They have a system requirements page that lists the expected CPU, Ram and disk utilizations. I found that helpful in picking projects for older, smaller PCs. Oh yes, the countdown continues: 22 Dec 2012 | 19:18:31 UTC Tasks ready to send --------------------0 Tasks in progress -------------------- 63 Workunits waiting for validation ------ 0 Workunits waiting for assimilation ---- 0 Workunits waiting for file deletion --- 0 Tasks waiting for file deletion ------- 0 Transitioner backlog (hours) ---------- 0 Happy Holidays.. Need Bigger pointer to status. Broken Link

Posted 15 Nov 2010 by jay Post: Hi. [BIG EDIT] I found a link to project status...!!! http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=3164#21925 and http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=3060#21277 Can this be posted in a location with high visibility? Maybe an up date on the main page? (The current status is over 5 months old...) ----- I would like to report a broken link.... http://lhcathome.cern.ch/grid/index.shtml says... You can learn much more about how grid computing works, and what it can be used for, at the GridCafe. And this linked to http://www.www.gridcafe.org/ (take out the extra www. and it works....) PS. Grid Cafe does not say what the LHC@Home WUs actually do.... Thank you!! Jay |

Short-running WU ( 13 to 30 seconds) Is this OK???
(Message 19278)
Posted 19 Mar 2008 by jay Post: Greetings! Here is a sample WU: http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/workunit.php?wuid=2444387 I was happy to see that I was not the only one that got the run time of less than one minute... Was this intended? The name of this WU is/was: w2_lhc270_4__51__s__64.28_59.31__18_20__5__45_1_sixvf_boinc23480 Recently, I have seen other WUs with times of 13.3 0.86 0.83 3.48 3.44 seconds. Just looked strange. Thought I would ask.. T H A N K Y O U Jay |

There are other WU with the same characteristics. Hmmm. Time for a beer...... Anybody know a good biergarten? Thanks! Jay |
