Large Hadron Rap video;

The Large Hadron Rap video is now officially the most viewed BOINC related video on Youtube. And as of today, this video has been linked to the LHC@home project and should bring in many new people to this project!

I contacted \"alpinekat\", the person who uploaded the Large Hadron Rap video and asked them to mention LHC@home in the information credits for this video.

AlpineKat thought it was a great idea to advocate for LHC@home and they added a link to LHC@home in the information section on the right hand side of the video.

This is excellent news as this video has had over 1.1 million views on Youtube in the last month.

Watch the video again and click the \"more info\" bit on the right hand side to see the link that has been added to LHC@home; Large Hadron Rap

No greater way to promote science and the worlds largest particle physics experiment than to reach out to the young people of the world through music.

Complete "BOINC Unification" in one website

I have started a discussion on the BOINC message boards about the complete Unification of BOINC and ALL the projects involved in it. The discussion is to see if this is possible or to explore other possibilities to see what can be achieved.

If you would like to take part in the discussion, please do so in the BOINC meessage boards message as not everybody is signed up to this project.

If you don't have an account on the BOINC website, you can create one here.

5) Message boards : Number crunching : Work Units making PC freeze (Message 19231)

I have had this occur as well on a stock Dell E510. I found that when running 1 cpu only or having the 2 cpus work on different projects, it does not freeze up. Only when both cpus are running LHC does it happen.

Yes, i found exactly the same thing Mike. If there is just one LHC work unit running, everything is fine. I have 2 CPU's and it happens when 2 LHC work units run at the same time.

My PC is Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz with and ATI graphics card. But i don't run the screen saver.

This problem is so bad i have to suspend LHC so i can use the computer. I had to suspend LHC so i could write this message, its that bad.

I see your recent news on the front page here is about mini city's.

Any chance of getting some news on the front page about the scheduled start up of the Atlas detector and some news about how and when the "LHC@home" BOINC project will be interfacing with the real time data from Atlas.

I am aware that the start up of Atlas is not an exact science but you could put something exciting on the front page like a countdown clock or a time schedule for when data is coming through from the detector.

Any news that relates to the project would be good.

I have been running LHC for a while now but just lately the work units are making my computer freeze.

Has anyone else noticed this or anything similar?

I always have BOINC running at 100% even when i am working on the PC.

There is some kind of error when you try to login here.

I just tried to login a few minutes ago, but it would not let me. So i tried it several times to make sure that it was not my cap locks or a spelling mistake.

It turned out that i was not allowed to login unless i ticked the box that says "Remember me each time i visit".

While i was trying this login procedure, i said i would try get the project to email me my account key so i could use that. But no good, it would not email the account key to me either. It said "Can't send email to XXXXX@hotmail.com:"

I should not have to tick that box to login.
