I have to agree. I was going to say the same thing but see someone beat me to it. I wasted a bit of time trying to get the one posted here to work at all. I downloaded the latest from the berkley site and it worked on the first try.

So do the points of light actually show how the particles stay bunched up in the beam?

Today, I saw a strange screen saver running, not the usual I've become used to. I saw that it was LHC, for the first time on my machine. Cool graphics!

I'm glad to be able to help out, as I'm very curious about the cutting-edge physics. Also, it's an immediate problem, not some theoretical stuff. So I've upped my share on BOINC to give LHC priority, when it has work to do.
