...[Re:] rules ... there is mention of posting false or unsupported info that harms, or is intended to harm.

Who gets to decide what constitutes a "false accusation"? If the Admins feel "harmed" by an accusation, I suppose they can conspicuously deem it "false" and invoke their convenient rule.

It seems that the Admins have a monopoly on truth and "un-truth". I believe this is "un-good" (to use Orwellian New Speak.) If this really were the case, we wouldn't need discussion forums at all; we could just ask The Admins and get the truth.

Well, Big Brother, I think I'll take leave of your dystopia.

Really? The Earth would be that big? Cool. Anyone up for a little one on one? I got my game on!

2) Will the new Wu's be about something else than the initial setup of the magnets?
3) What about the promised Garfield Wu's?

This thread is worth a quick bump. B-Roy is asking some good questions! Anyone have the answers?

I do believe that the people who say 'I feel so helpless that I cannot crunch' are, well.. a little k00k-y.. but.. I would never say it with such flair for the offensive.

Well said. Sorry about the "backfiring fart" rhetoric; I must admit, it was somewhat out of line. Perhaps my offensive flared up a bit, but this is Flame Fest 2007 - - ;)

What about that fried rice receipt?

Well, it's "recipe" not "receipt", and I truly appreciate that you are so candid about language skills. This thread is a great place to learn English, and I will be happy to help. Be prepared to have someone say something negative about that; ignore them.

As for the fried rice recipe, I'm not sure what Quantum was thinking but I have one of my own.

Spam Fried Rice
1. Put a very small amount of cooking oil in a wok or large frying pan.
2. Heat oil to medium-high temperature.
3. Add 4 to 6 ounces of thinly sliced or diced Spam (1/2 inch or less.)
4. Cook Spam until light brown or slightly crispy.
5. Add previously steamed white rice and mix until evenly coated with oil.
6. Add steamed green peas, corn, diced carrots, and/or other steamed vegetables.
7. Mix and turn for about 5 to 10 minutes, or until rice begins to clump.

Yum.

Yes. And now, our beloved thread once again has a misleading name: "Flame fest 2007".

I have this idea of taking a bunch of dead laptop computers, striping them down (no keyboard, display, battery), repairing and pumping them up a bit, and stacking them in a simple & compact manner. The networking will be a bit tricky, but I think I can do it. The farm will consume little power with the adapters, and VERY little power if I can devise a "centralized DC power adaption system" via the technique of splice, gage, connect and hope you don't smell smoke. The best part is, it will fit in my modest domicile.

What do you think, guys? Will it work?

As I've understood Godwin's Law, intentional invocation generally does not cause a successful termination of the thread.

There are cases in which the intentions of the individual(s) are not known. Sometimes, it is not known even to the law invoker. Many trolls do not realize that they are, in fact, trolls. The line between conscious and unconscious intention is vague at best, and on the Internet... it's a blur.

I for one wouldn't cry if this thread went away. Actually one might argue that Dagorath's last post has invoked Godwin's Law and therefore this thread should be locked and left to drop off the front page... But whatever.

Godwin's law has a loophole that enables an individual to intentionally kill a thread. If a poster is losing a debate for logical reasons, s/he may intentionally (or unintentionally) attempt to invoke Godwin's law if the thread happens to be long. Such an individual may even assume a second identity in the forum to counter-flame.

Any other opinions (or keenly pointed rebuttals) will be much appreciated.

Peace.

If a user starts to post to several threads the way many of us have here, then I say ban 'em. But the "bloody free-for-all" atmosphere that characterizes this thread is harmless, given it stays relatively isolated.
Does everyone feel this way?

I do. And thank you, Neasan, for showing up at this "crime scene". It has been a bit of fun, and your idea of renaming it seems reasonable. I'm just wondering what the new name should be... maybe "Flame Fest 2006-2007" ?

As for YOU Neasan, I've never encountered an Admin who is so attentive to the users. At risk of being accused of lip serving, you are the best BOINC-project Admin ever. You rock. Keep up the great communication, and drink a cup of tea for me!

if ANY thread on these forums deserves to be nuked entirely...this one does.

Very nice use of bold, italics, and underlining. Indeed, BBCode is lots of fun. Anyway, I like this thread even though it has "unraveled" into a train wreck. It is quite entertaining, and wounded prides heal quickly.

Maybe things will cool off and the thread will find a grove soon. The unexpected posthumous appearance of Barry White was a pleasant surprise. As for Dagorath, I think his last post showed some improvement: He has started spelling "stupid" correctly for the very first time!

I vote keep the thread and don't ban anyone. JMHO.
