I noted that the server status page takes some time to show (around 5 seconds, sometimes even 15 seconds). Is it generated every time it is requested? Or is it cached?

At this project it is cached, as it is with most projects.

Sorry for the upload problems. Hope somebody here will

WTF?? Here we are on the brink of losing thousands of hours of CPU time and all you can say is that you hope somebody here will fix this soon?

Hey, numbnut, what we need to hear is that you got whoever it is that can fix this on the phone 2 minutes ago and he's on the case NOW. The only thing you should be hoping for is that we don't all detach this sorry excuse for a project and send you begging for a grant from Bill and Melinda Gates so you can PAY FOR YOUR TASKS TO BE CRUNCHED.

This project has, from day one, been the most f*cked up waste of CPU time in all of BOINCdom. First it was that braindead IR > minQ policy, now you're STILL INSERTING RESENDS AT THE TAIL OF THE QUEUE and you're dumping tens of thousands of tasks into the queue when it's quite obvious the system can't handle it. Then you walk away and don't check on it for days. You should be crunching these tasks yourself so that you can see if the server's fallen over. You should be reading this forum at least twice a day to see if others are encountering problems. Instead you go hide and... what?.... choke yer chicken?

Its your own choice to be here, nobody has forced you. BOINC is started to help the scientific community, not to maintain a hobby.
And you should be friendly to mister Eric McIntosh. He does what he can for this project in his own time.
Your comment is very rude and impropriety. And this is all I have to say about it.

Thanks Toby,

I have tried that but it is not working. I have also tried to turn the firewall (f-secure) off and that doesn't work either.
Only complete removing f-secure does the trick but that is not a good option.

Hello crunchers,

I finally know why my files won't upload. F-secure is the trouble-maker.
When I remove it the files to LHC upload imediately. When installing it new everything works fine, with F-secure. Then f-secure want to do an update, it does the update, and then it is trouble again.

Strange thing is that Einstein@home works all the time f-secure or not, new or old version.

Has anyone else the same experience? And does anyone to know how to solve this?
I can buy McAfee as that worked for years trouble free, but I get f-secure for free with my internet-connection from my provider.

Thanks for the help.

So what happens when a task does run beyond its deadline? Apologies if this has been asked before.

I have a task that is only 45% completed and close to its deadline. Should I abort it now and stop wasting time or should I let it run?

I don't care about credits very much, although more credits are always better.

Well at other projects a taks after the deadline is marked as invalid and get no credits.
I have aborted a long wu which never would met the deadline. I have now a new one, still need 58 hours in 6 days, so that must be no problem.

I have 3 of them, one finished in 59.12 minutes, but won't upload but that is another problem.
One has run 01 hour and 22 minutes and need another 77.39 hour to complete.
The last on has done 15 minutes and 80 hours and 17 minutes to go.

But uploading will be a problem after they finished. It seems to be a F-Secure thing but no one has a solution for it.

Am I realy the only one with this problem?

I don't know but in the last 24 hrs I haven't noticed any uploading problems on any of my hosts. Also, there don't seem to be others with the same problem. I would think this makes it rather likely that the problem is somewhere at your end.

In another thread you mentioned that your firewall was complaining about the download of the executable. Is it possible that it's also messing with uploads? Have you tried completely disabling it temporarily to see if it makes any difference?

Another thing to try (if your computer is reasonably portable) is a friend or colleague's internet connection to see if that gets things moving.

Just some random thoughts ...

Thanks Gary for some answers/suggestions!

The firewal was only complaning about the SSE2 app. Einstein@home and MilkyWay@home work flawlessly on the SAME pc. Other PC's in my network with the same firewall and setting run Einstein and Rosetta without problems.
Even one PC will run LHC (is it doing now) and will also upload.

So I should think my network is okay, not?

So that is wy I don't understand.
Only differences are OS and BOINC version.

One pc with the problems has Vista home x64 on an AMD. I have updated BOINC to the latest (not Beta) and restarted the pc. I wait if LHC will upload now.

Where are no problems is Win7 x64 Ultimate on an i7 with latest beta BOINC (for Albert@home) and the other: Vista Ultimate x64 on an i7 with BOINC 6.10.60

Oh and all PC's have enough disk space free for BOINC.
And yes I switched the firewal completely of for a couple of hours with no joy, flushed DNS and restarted BOINC and booted the PC and even turned the pc of for a few minutes. Nothing helped to get the LHC Wu's to upload while Einstein@home is working like a speed train!

I will wait one more our if it uploads and then I quit the remainder and detach this pc as well for the last time..

Hello,

I would try LHC on another computer to see if it there runs and upload.
When I got the program: sixtrack_windows_sse2, my firewall is blocking it because it is harmful.
When ignoring I got a second message that it is harmful.

However I have accept it to run.
I did one WU but with computation error.

Questions:
1. Is it really harmful or are some settings wrong?
2. Will there be any tasks in the near future run without errors?
3. Will this project become stable in the near future like Einstein@home?
