Maximum daily WU quota per CPU?
(Message 18427)
Posted 28 Oct 2007 by PovAddict Post: When you reach your quota for the 24hr period. No way that can work; it depends on the server date, not your computer's. |

Posted 28 Oct 2007 by PovAddict Post: Good thing time was spent on changing the look and feel of the web site, rather than fixing the servers. They succeeded at making the upgrade even harder; now they have to merge the new look changes with the thousand changes from the official code. Seriously, that was totally the wrong order. |

Posted 28 Oct 2007 by PovAddict Post: I would like to see the 4-core max setting removed. Just make is a # per core, period. Current scheduler code has the CPU limit at 8, so that's yet another problem that is solved by a server upgrade. >:o o:< |

Maximum daily WU quota per CPU?
(Message 18403)
Posted 28 Oct 2007 by PovAddict Post: (BTW, what time of day does tomorrow start on this project?). Edit - worked it out for myself: 20 minutes ago. Matched UK time tonite, but daylight saving time ends today in the UK - is it the same in Switzerland? Just finished wandering around in the code - took me long to find it. Indeed it uses (server) local time. In case anybody cares: from line 1359 in handle_request.C is where the reset is done. current_rpc_dayofyear is set using localtime() in line 1341 above. EDIT: note this is the current server code, not necessarily matching what LHC runs. |

I think daily quota would get reset at midnight UTC, but lemme check the scheduler sourcecode :) |

Server not reporting "No Work from project"
(Message 18303)
Posted 19 Oct 2007 by PovAddict Post: Hmmm... This only started as of today... Why would a client bug manifest itself after several months of operation? Do you have a Trac bug number and a way I can look at the bug log? I don't think it was reported on Trac. Devs probably found it themselves without any user reporting it. Anyway, the latest version's logs look like this: 19/10/2007 00:45:07|boincsimap|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Requesting 5556 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks 19/10/2007 00:45:22|boincsimap|Scheduler request succeeded: got 1 new tasks 19/10/2007 00:45:32|boincsimap|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Requesting 1151 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks 19/10/2007 00:45:42|boincsimap|Scheduler request succeeded: got 1 new tasksYep, doesn't show deferral at all. Not a bug, it was removed on purpose. I already gave up on trying to get the change reverted. Complain yourself. I used to be able to browse the list without logging in, but I can't seem to find how I did that... And even though I have permission to do *whatever* on the wiki (I helped migrate the old documentation into the wiki, so I even have delete permissions) and *whatever* with the bug tickets, I suddenly lost even read permission for the source code and changesets. So I think somebody recently broke Trac permissions. Wouldn't surprise me if tickets are now blocked for everybody, or if only spammers can access the wiki :P |

(Message 18249)
Posted 17 Oct 2007 by PovAddict Post: "Before BOINC 6.0 is released, every BOINC feature should be considered broken in Vista until proven otherwise." Particularly the screensaver, it just won't work. BOINC writes its data files to C:\\Program files\\BOINC. Vista doesn't like programs changing stuff in Program files. 6.x will store data files outside the Program files directory. |
