Had this "unmanageble" also. Exiting Boinc and restarting to restart the LHC Atlas jobs. I've 32GB and it never exceeded 1gb for atlas 8 cores and stopped and in the end the unit failed with NO credit.
No I just marked again "keep no-gpu-jobs" in memory and sudden cpu increases to +95% (never saw this with LHC VM job before) in use while it was 10 when unmarked and not yet stopped so maybe this is it?!?!?!

Maybe they wait for 1000000 workunits a nice big number :-)

Let's hope than that those WU don't have an error and go ballastic.

Ready your wagon for the land rush. They're about to get out the bugles and start this machine up again.

Resumed the project...now just waiting till it's downloading (got message in boinc it's down)...well, I'll keep my connection alive this night and let me see back in the morning.

@Mike Dunn

BTW...try to use only ONE mail-account for your projects ... I see you are using (at least) 4 different ones (for the projects that export xml-files). It "screws" up your TOTAL-stats if you use different accounts ;)

??? Than switch off the SS!!! or are you sitting infront of your screen to watch the screensaver?!?!?! now that is some waste of energy THAN :)

Not to highjack your posting, but what version of BOINC do you use?
I had a few hrs ago a strange boinc pop-up message "couldn't connect to server" and ALL screens within BOINC were blank: projects, work , transfer, messages,...
btw...I'm using 4.71 since yesterday.
Removing the program from memory and restarting just fixed "MY" problem (for the moment).

Yep, a bit of-topic but this is also a nice vid-link on the supercomputer(s) at the Nvidia base on which they compute to get the next videocard-CPU's...really amazing (±20Mb).. Speakin' of RAW-POWER :D
http://download.nvidia.com/downloads/nZone/videos/nvidia/engineroom_download.wmv

But because it's posted in cafe-forum, I think it doesn't matter :)

Why is it always "6 this", "6 that" :D
I know I know . . . but my 6 stands for the German 6, just say the number 6 in German and than think of it in English :) ... LOL ... very long story but...
OW and YES ... This is indeed COOLEST project so I will give LHC more "CPU-time" when I'm done with my "old settings" (had +7WU yesterday with +11hr still from Einstein with deadline in 3days, besides the seti and seti-beta ones :) so it's cleaning time right now ... together with a 6pack to kill my thurst :D

LOL and not to forget... I CAN imagine my sig can distract ... but that's just my BOINCing girl, don't blame her ;)
Think you all need to loosen up and add something extra to your sig besides only boinc-stats. It can maybe give some extra postings in the "cafe"-forum :D

The link was that WE found THIS the coolest project above all the others and then I mentioned SETI and THEN it went off-topic :)

Yeah, me 2 joined yesterday.
Think this is one, if not THE coolest projects in BOINC.
Most attractive part of this project is that we "maybe" can see the real result of this testing in a few years. (SETI is fun but I think if they wanted us the pick up their signals, they would have gave us a chance to do so already...that is, IF there is "something" out there ;) )

Finished the 1st 1,000,000 turns WU ... time prediction was 11h28 and my PC did it in 4h42 (AND that was working on 2WU at the same time ;) )

I really like the BOINC-community :) Still NO bad experience on forums or whatsoever. AND I also learn a lot ... like admin-servers are needed to setup different etc (like in "this" problem) and with all the hokus-pokus to get my sig done...I'm intrested into the html-code 2 (even if it was only getting 3 images into the sig...nxt thing s maybe getting those 3 in only 1 image/link :D ... OMG :-P

:( got "spanked" I guess ... got 3WU now with +11hrs to completion... and the 2 that are busy are the 1,000,000 ones :)
So don't wait on my credit today :P but once it's there ... it will rock (I hope :) ) LOL
