You will have to wait for 2007, they will be bringing a new server online at a differant location whare they can do things like that.

Just look at it this way while waitting, they are credits in the bank and will give you one large day when the stat's sites get them.

I tried to fix the problem. Stats should be online within 24 hours.

Cheers,

Thank you Chrulle.
Sorry about all the Aborted units, my P4 2.4 (SLOW) downloaded 60 units that had an estimated time of 0:02:30, way short of the 3 to 4 hours that they take. Would not have been able to do them. Well at least others can pick them up now to run.

River~~
I was just looking to see what would be good to join when they opened it up in July, looks like I found it open the same day as you. Really I heard that it was opening over at Boinc Synergy and joined.

That opening and closing left a lot of people waiting at that time but we had work almost all the time until around October. Looks like they could close it to new members again with the databases being used to there Max. now. I think this is the only production project that has limited the number of users. Maby we will se more that have to do it in the future.

Interesting. According to the graph, it looks like the project was closed to new users between november and January of last year because no users signed up. I never knew it was closed......Did anyone else know this?

I don't know if they were closed or not however that graph uses the same data source as mine do (see here). They are based on the XML dumps generated every day by the projects and (here is the important part) these XML dumps only export users who have more than 0 credit. So even if people were signing up during December, there was no work so none of the new users could get credit and be listed in the XML.

Yes, they were closed to new members. Don't have the date that it closed but repoened to new members on 13 July 2005. See the Old News for details

It is using two, single core with HT.

You could upgrade to a Pentium D 3.2 Duel core with HT and run 4 at a time.

Ray, I've got to say: that's the spirit. I always suspend my other projects when LHC comes up with work. I'm glad someone else also does.

Anyhow happy crunching everyone, glad we have work to do!
Mike

They would go faster if I suspended all others but evn half makes it gpo faster. Wonder how long they will have work this time.

Yes, I started with BOINC in June but LHC was closed to new members. In mid July they opened it up again. Before July they did not have enoughf work for more members. After I joined in July there was steady work for a few Mo. but on and off after that. When they get another study now they go by much faster with more people crunching.

EDIT: May I have one row of computers from this one

My other system got some from the 2nd batch, now both can be happy. I suspended some other programs to give LHC more time on the systems. CPDN was allocated a lot of time on my machines and will get it back when these are over. That is a good part of the long deadlines at CPDN.

WOW, just got 17 units. But 6 of them only have estimated times of 3 munits. Will still keep the system happy for a while. 3 Mar. 2006

edit: first finished in 00:02:31, that was fast.

2nd edit: Went to get some on the other system, too late all gone.

Is the P133 really a straight Pentium (i586) chip?

That is it, one of the early Pentium chips. Only diferance between that and the earlier P60 & P90 chips is the speed.

But when they came out they were really considered fast, the fastest 486 (486DX4 100) was slow compaired the the Pentiums.

I can remember that the first Pentium chips were really expensive for the first couple of Mounths, and most people thought that only larger companies that needed a lot of computing power would evev use the pentium chip. But as you can see years later they were wrong.

I have never seen a 286, 386 or 486 chip crunching except for one 486 working on SETI but it is taking close to a week per WU there. Definately not good for projects with shorter deadlines.

I think that his sustem is having problems, may be overclocked to much or something else. Most of his get marked as Invalid after going through the validator so I would not worry about it.

But it would be good it the owner looked at it and corrected what is causing that.

I lost 34 (I have a list of them before they were wiped off the system)! Oh for a UPS and automated shutdown, this all would have been avoided.

It serves me right in a way as I noticed the problem but still let my computer upload the results and report them as I didn't think it would be possible that a facility like CERN would not have UPS's and automated shutdown systems on their BOINC servers. More fool me really. But I did see my pending increasing during this time and thought all uploaded results were received and logged.

Paul.

I did the same thing let them upload, usually systems will not accept them and BOINC after a few tries sets a long time before the next retry.
I imagine there are a couple hundred out there who did the same. Two of mime had a 3 copies not returned, probably the same thing as ours.

Looks like we lost them, mine finaly ran out of time and were marked as not turned in. Now most have been removed from the result page. How many did you turn in during that time? I only had 4, but even that was a waist of computer time.

Looks like one of the users has oc'd their host too far and is only computing for 2 seconds before bombing out. I'd hazard a guess that this might be the case for all the wu's where we are seeing fast completions and "normal" completions within the same wu.

Live long and crunch.

That is what I was thinking at first, but was getting to many of them, than Hans found two in his pending units. With so many thought it may be something more synister, well a 50/50 chance of eather way I guess.
