I am now going to submit just a few hundred very
log 10**7 turn jobs to complete two studies.
I think this will be OK now; we shall see.

No, Eric!
This is not Ok, because these very long tasks still have the same deadlines as normal tasks.
It is very sad, but You are ignoring some facts...
1. Almost nobody of us is crunching LHC@home only. So, such big tasks with extremely short deadlines are starting to run in panic mode immediately after they are downloaded. CPU tasks from another projects are blocked.
2. Not all of us are rich people from rich countries, so not all of us:
- have newest and fastest machines;
- have possibility to crunch 24/7 (if computer is at work, very often it is running only 8/5).
PLEASE, do not follow some arrogant projects, designed for US, British Union and EU Western only.

I set a bound of 30 days for any WU....need to discuss with Igor is that is NOT what you see at home. Of course we really want a low bound to get results back quickly, but I also want to use older slower systems. We shall have to work out some sort of compromise.

First, it is very nice to see, You are following basic principle of BOINC - everyone is welcome and everyone can participate!!!
The parent-veteran project SETI@home is giving very good example. SETI@home is using different deadlines (from 1 week to 2-3 months) according to the size of tasks.
IMHO, such solution is the best compromise.

PLEASE! Correct the deadlines too, because the older machines (Pentium 4, Core etc.) will not finish in time such long tasks.

I just got one with estimated run time of over 311 hours, but deadline is still 7 days!

+ 1!
The size of tasks is increased 10 times! by the same deadline!
What is happening?
Is the project team trying to repeat the mistakes of pre-alpha, alpha projects?
Or...
Is the project team trying to set the project to second RICH PEOPLE CLUB after GPUGRID?

Hello!
This situation is never seen before - the downloads of WUs are succesfull, but the downloads of executables always fail. Downloads stop at 3/4 or 100% of progress. On trasfers tab I see big download rate at these moments, the amount of downloaded bytes is much higher as the size of executable (when download stops at 100%).
Event log displays no error messages.
What I did:
reset project;
detach, re-attach;
updgraded BOINC from 6.12.33 to 7.0.28.
No effect - host 9929765.

Dear project team!
You started to use "Credit New" after the server migration. Are You sure, the project is enough protected now against credit junkie's attacks?
I see computers with too big credits granted (10 times more as usual) again - for example this one.
Good luck!

By the way what happened in the project 06/26/2007 (or may be day before - 06/25/2007)? When checking the statistics, noted that almost all the "old" users (who was involved in the project at this time) have abnormal large results for that day.

That episode is deep in the past. After few days THIS episode may go deep in the past too. ;-)

List of participants, who got crazy credits together with Bartonn:
wdsmia - approx. +500K @ 2011-12-21

Galeon 7 - approx. +400K @ 2011-12-21

MrOctane - approx. +900K @ 2011-12-20

Jnargus - approx. +600K @ 2011-12-20

Maybe somebody more, who remained behind me after that attack... :-)

Stelf, it is nice to see You here, but, PLEASE, do not crunch additional tasks from Your machine until the problem will be found and fixed - Your computer is able to violate entire statistic here to such chaos level, which may provoke the project team to reset this statistic or drop down the credits to ZERO for all participants. This will be the greatest injustice for all of us, if this will happen.

The statistic here is seriously damaged for 2nd time and will be destroyed at all after several coming batches. The worst thing is - the project team did nothing after 1st evidence of cheating. Crunching without statistic is the same as crunching without credits. The bitter experience of Ramsey@home shows - almost nobody will crunch such project.
Black humor. Dear friends, my big "thanks" to all of You, who cried here: "The credits are too small, we want the credit averaging".

There is only one answer for all this... eliminate credits...

I do not agree. ;-)
This project needs safe granting and nothing more!

STEP 1 (mandatory)

If
Claimed2>=Claimed1
Then
Granted=Claimed1
Else
Granted=Claimed2
End If

STEP 2 (optional)

If
Claimed2>=Claimed1
Then
Ratio=Claimed2/Claimed1
Else
Ratio=Claimed1/Claimed2
End If
If Ratio<=1+ValueAcceptable
Then Granted=(Claimed1+Claimed2)/2
End If

That is all...
Found a bug? If so then fix it... :-)

This is a nice discussion, but with to match letters for translation – sorry, if I am repeating something. :-)
Just for fun – 1 computer, equipped with 4 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 in 5 months earned in PrimeGrid approximately the same amount of credits as all hosts of all users in LHC@home, since this project started.
BOINC combined always was formal, but today it is a joke if not absurdity.
IMHO, it is enough for the correct or adequate statistic here - ONE formula for all and the cheaters are blocked.
