At the moment, the installation procedure downgrades to version 18.04, but cvmfs_config does not work because it does not look for libraries in the right place, in fact it looks for them in ./, in /usr/... and not in /lib where they actually are. OK Probing /cvmfs/cernvm-prod.cern.ch... OK Probing /cvmfs/sft.cern.ch... OK Probing /cvmfs/alice.cern.ch... OK $ This error of mine also affected ATLAS which gave me the same "calculation error" problem. Now I will activate the jobs for ATLAS and Theory Application! OK $ I have installed CernVM-FS from https://cernvm.cern.ch/fs/ and followed the instructions. At a point I executed: $ cd /etc/cvmfs $ sudo chmod -v 700 config.sh $ sudo ./config.sh then I created the file /etc/cvmfs/default.local and executed cvmfs_config setup with no problems, but I installed CernVM-FS to execute jobs for ATLAS. When I saw that Teory Application also requires CernVM-FS, I simply integrated the /etc/cvmfs/default.local file with the data for Theory Application. When probed with $ sudo cvmfs_config probe I obtained ALL OK. Is it possible that there is only a problem due to the installation with sudo (as per instructions), the installation being executable only by root? So how can I also run it as a normal user?

I am currently doing jobs for CMS and would like to do work also for Theory Application as well. I followed all the instructions I found in the post Native Theory Application Setup (Linux only) but I keep getting "Calculation Error" within the first 3 seconds of starting the job. I run the LHC@home jobs on a system with 6 cores and 8 GB of RAM and Kubuntu 20.04 operating system. I hope someone can help me because otherwise I will be forced to give up Theory Application. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

When ended my jobs I restarted BOINC and the activity in elaboration display this error: Ritardato, I am Italian, it means delayed: VM job unmanageable, restarting later. But the job don't restart... I thank you for any help/suggestions.

My web preferences have always been those of LHC@home, then I added IBM World Community Grid and since then the web preferences are theirs and I can't reinsert those of LHC@home. I use Ubuntu, and I deleted every file related to both the World Community Grid and BOINC and uninstalled and reinstalled BOINC several times but without solving the problem. Does anyone have any advice to give me about this? Thanks in advance!

I solved my problem installing Boingtasks.exe and running it via wine. I found Boingtasks on the BOINC web site. The program offers a GUI different from BOINC, but offers more controls and the same options as BOINC. Again, Thank you very much!

When I start my computer ON, the BOINC GUI (BOINC manager, the BOINC graphic interface) is Not Connected. But my computer was also changed: All crunching is operative with NO MODE to stop it, neither to brutally kill the process, that restart immediately and automatically. When I restart the computer all crunching start automatically. The only means to see what happen is to use the BOINC TUI (boinctui, the BOINC text interface). BOINC TUI do not permit to change the computing preferences. I tried with complete BOINC reinstalling without success. I run BOINC 7.14.2 on a Lenovo i5, 6 cores, 8GB RAM, with Linux Elive 64bit (a Debian derivative), and I run only sixtrack works. Thank you so much for all help!!

This computer is very sensible to summery temperature (34-43 Celsius), so I only can do jobs in the early hours of morning and at night. I noted that progress in task sometimes increments of 0.001% every 1 or more seconds, other times the increment is more big, from 0.007 to 0.020 and event more. This in for me very important because is the increment is 0.001%, is for me very difficult to finish a job in the required deadline, because the computer has to be power off in the most warm hours of the day. Why exists this differences in the increment? It is possible to execute the jobs at increments more highs? Thank you so much for help!!! Enzo Ricci - Italy
