1) Message boards : Number crunching : Only getting Theory app tasks (Message 41191)

False alarm. When I set the limits to "no limit", I get tasks from all apps. Before, I was setting tasks to just 1. In that scenario, Theory seemed to have the highest priority.

I'm still testing this by systematically specifying different combinations of selections. Your results are what I would expect.

I think I see some unexpected behavior. When I open the Preferences window, the available apps are listed. It appears that the scheduler runs the last app (toward the bottom of the list) and always sticks to that app. If one chooses an app that is further down on that list, that is the one that gets executed. I expected a rather more random selection of apps to run if I turned on every app. This is sufficiently weird to me that I am not sure I believe it. Opinions?

Should we upgrade if we have no problems with v 5.2.2.2?

I keep the number of tasks to run at 1. I don't see why that should affect the selection. I have no cache references in my log. That's OK, I will keep crunching tasks.

Thanks,
Jim

Not that I am worried or such as I enjoy crunching all of the apps here, but I seem to be getting only the Theory app tasks even though my prefs are set to "all". Is that what should be happening?
8) Message boards : ATLAS application : Atlas runs very slowly after 94% (Message 37008)

I will admit that I have nor executed Yeti's checklist. I thought it was PC oriented and I am running a Mac. I will check it out.

It does seem that as long as the computer is up, ATLAS completes. But if anything stops Atlas execution, it usually fails.

I will check out the checklist.

Thanks,
Jim

Bronco,

Many thanks for the info. Choices, choices! I'll play with the parameters and see what works.

I have an atlas task that runs very slowly at 94% complete. I had one last week that failed validation after taking a long time to finish. DO I abort this task?

Well, so much for my predictions. The task suddenly completed and was verified. Interestingly, iit ran 3X normal time , but I got less credit.

Just FYI...It is taking 90 seconds of run time at 100% to accomplish 1 second of estimated time. I have roughly 660 minutes left, so that comes out about 16-17 hours at a CPU set at 100% usage to complete this task. WOW!
13) Message boards : Number crunching : Can't run with VBox (Message 34837)

I found a solution on Virtualbox.org in their forums section.

"If the GUI solution does not work, reboot in Recovery mode and enter:

CODE: SELECT ALL EXPAND VIEW
spctl kext-consent add VB5E2TV963

Reboot in normal mode and install should be ok.

This command does not disable the Apple security mechanism, it simply adds Oracle to the list of approved developers."

This worked for me.

Trying to install the latest version of causes an error during the installation. It says to contact the software developer which I guess is Oracle. Have you seen this?

It apparently is some kind of incompatibility with High Sierra. The known "fix" is way too complicated for me. I'll just wait

I recently changed my default browser from Safari to Chrome on my iMac running Sierra. Now I cannot access my task history from Boinc Manager. The response is "Unable to Handle Request". When I try to access my tasks from my account page, it never shows any tasks.

What do I need to do?

I've lost track of the version of VB that we should be using. I am running VirtualBox version: 5.1.4r110228.

Is that good or do I need to upgrade?

Thanks,
Jim
