Try looking at the Boinc Mgr log (Ctrl + Shift + E) for any additional hints as to why.

Seeing your computers and any returned results may help us see problems. If you don't want to do that, exit Boinc completely, restart it, update LHC and then post your log entry within CODE tags in the forum. We might be able to see some info then.

You can try a project reset for LHC. Set No New Tasks, abort any outstanding LHC tasks and do the reset for this project.

You can look at Ubuntu 24 LTS and see if it has the requirements for the package versions you need. It is supposed to be releases about April 25th.

Link to daily build if you wanted to try it before April 25th.

Toby, what kind of data storage do you have to be able to run that many concurrent VMs? Mine seemed to have more trouble with a few tasks running with the data on a hard drive. I recently moved my data to a SSD that I wasn't using.

Theory tasks and set it to run two concurrent tasks only. I would not use throttling if you are are using only two cores. The individual tasks don't really stress the processors too bad and also they take a bit to get started. There is a bunch of time spent communicating with LHC servers, etc. If you are running tasks successfully, you might increase it to three concurrent.

You might need to set your account to only Theory tasks and that will affect both computers. I am not sure how to block applications for a single computer and hopefully someone else will comment on the best way or other solutions.

If you are having trouble work through the checklist for VM related tasks. You might need more changes since you had HyperV turned on.

This computer? https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/show_host_detail.php?hostid=10849211

Its reporting too little RAM / memory to use for VM related projects. 3.89 GB

ATLAS uses over 4GB and CMS is 2GB. You probably should find a project with low requirements for RAM and processor usage. The projects also like to have constant internet and don't do well to starting and stopping if running multiple projects or different work units. Throttling the processor can also cause problems

I would remove VirtualBox completely from this computer.

That was from the returned data for you computer and the tasks that had failed. I think Maeax looked at your returned tasks but I don't know which task it was.

I am guessing this it the correct computer and its tasks.

I think you might just need a reboot and try some new native Atlas tasks. That way we should see returned results or failures along with the log data.

I don't think it matters. Try it and see if it works. Let us know what steps you took, what you did and the errors you are seeing if it doesn't.
You might need root privileges to create and save the file in that location.

The File is /etc/cvmfs/default.local The directions have you editing it with NANO. You can search web for NANO instructions or use MAN page help.

add
CVMFS_REPOSITORIES=atlas.cern.ch,atlas-condb.cern.ch,grid.cern.ch
CVMFS_USE_CDN=yes
CVMFS_CACHE_BASE=/scratch/cvmfs
CVMFS_HTTP_PROXY=DIRECT

Save File

sudo cvmfs_config setup

cvmfs_config probe

You should be able to connect then
Just follow the directions by mmonnin. Add singularity

Bring up the Log in Boinc Manager (CTRL + SHIFT + E). Click on a project then hit 'L' to quickly go down to LHC entry. Select 'Show only this project'. That will filter the list of all your different project entries so you can concentrate on only the LHC entries. Once you are done looking at the server responses, you can click 'Show all messages' to return to the default view of all your projects.

I think you are just running way too many projects for the amount of resources you have available. Your job cache is full so no additional jobs are given.

Another issue with LHC jobs is they use VirtualBox, except for Six Track applications. The VB jobs within Boinc don't play as nice as the older, conventional jobs. They have different job priority, normal instead of low. VB jobs also use resources spinning up and down the VMs. This can cause problems with systems using conventional hard drives or even SSDs when too many jobs start and end at once.

You can also try to post in the Theory and ATLAS forum section with a link to this, original forum thread. You might get more people commenting on if you have an issue or not, or some more feedback. It just helps to have the conversations all in the original thread and keeps it easier to follow what has been suggested and tried.

Question for Native ATLAS users? How many cores or threads do you assign to an ATLAS tasks? I noticed Alexandre_Phan computer is AMD Ryzen 75800X with 8 cores , 16 threads. The successfully completed work units were assigning 'running run_atlas (--nthreads 12)'

What do you Native ATLAS users assign for those and how do you control that job? User has native ATLAS and Therory tasks that have completed. I only use the VBox version of ATLAS and '--nthreads 4' in my app_config.xml for control of processor cores per work unit. I also have Max # CPUs 4 set on my LHC@home project preferences on this website

Alexandre_Phan, do you have LHC Project preferences set? You might try setting Max # CPUs to 4 to limit the cores per ATLAS workunit and/or unsellecting ATLAS or Theory, temporarally, to see ATLAS or Theory will run successfully on its own and mixing the two work types is an issue?

I took a look at a bunch of your errors and the other computers they get sent to also show errors. Work units that won't complete on multiple different computers have a problem, usually.

I don't think your computer is the problem. You can check a few more by selecting 'Work Unit' on the tasks page for your computer. This link is an example you completed.

I would pick a single project application to run and stick to only that for now.
You can also work through Yeti's checklist. It's a sticky in the forums.

Your picture shows an ATLAS task waiting to run at about 8 minutes in. It takes about 15 minutes before the computation phase of ATLAS as it is talking CVMFS and getting needed files and info.

I don't see any aborted ATLAS tasks listed under your computer. Two CMS apps show aborted

Did you set LHC to No New Tasks, abort non running tasks or allow the queue to clear before your VirtualBox upgrade? That is usually the best procedure.
