1) Message boards : Number crunching : Merge Credits from vLHC (Message 27952)

Do you plan to merge credits from vLHC into this project?

I have about 30,000 credits in vLHC and 137,000 in LHC but it seems they are not merged into LHC.

Thanks

I have found minimum 6 Alex-es: one Alex from my team Russia, another Alex from Canada, two Alexes from Spain(Alex & Alex), Alex from Germany, Alex from Switzerland.

:D

@Dev Team: have you any tools to quickly find some WUs with many pending results like this one?

Also you can change your global preferences to use one CPU while there is no additional work and continue use GUI client.

John Keck -- BOINCing since 2002/12/08 --

WUs with 100,000 turns (proone, protwo, protree, profour WUs) are usually very short, isn't it? ;-) And WUs with 1,000,000 turns (i.e. tunescan WUs) are long.

Count of turns is known before send to users. You can see it in fort.3 in TRACKING PARAMETERS group (it seems).

LHC team, is this info not top secret? ;-)

@Markku or @Chrulle

Whether it is possible to unit some short WUs (for example 5 or 10?) into one big package, and then to crunch received big WU a few times, i.e. each small subWU? ;-) Of course with new sixtrack application.

This can reduce a network traffic, I hope.

Maybe it is possible to combine a few short WUs (i.e. 10?) into one? And calculate this monstrous WU 10 times, for every subWU? ;-)

12) Questions and Answers : Windows : Boinc 4.09 Hangs with LHC (Message 3321)
Posted 7 Oct 2004 by Profile Nikolay A. Saharov
Post:
As I understood from answers on CPDN forum BOINC GUI 4.09 has this problem when your system has 2 or greater CPUs (physical or logical i.e. HT System) and when there isn't enough work for these CPUs to do from projects you participate.

Close BOINC. Change your general settings in any project to limit the processing to 1 CPU. Or you can change this also in global_prefs.xml file manually. Parameter "max_cpus" set to 1 and save file. Then restart BOINC.

When there is enough work for all projects, you can change your general prefs back to 2 processors, and update project from BOINC.

13) Questions and Answers : Windows : Boinc_gui.exe 4.09 hangs when there are WUs less than free CPUs. (Message 3165)

I had this problem a few times.

I have a P4-2.6GHz with HT that is 2 logical CPUs.

I have 3 attached projects now - CPDN, S@H and LHC. There are 4 S@H & 8 LHC@H WUs with "Ready to report" status and 1 CPDN WU currently running. I can not report finished WUs because S@H scheduler always not responded and now LHC scheduler also (Too many connections message some times)

When BOINC finished last LHC WU then BOINC hangs (I could not change BOINC pages and so on). Then I closed BOINC with Task Manager. After that I changed Global prefs from Max 2 CPUs to 1 CPU and restarted BOINC. And now it works (with CPDN WU).

This problem happened earlier when S@H Wus were finished. After that bug previous CPDN WU (with ~40 percent) was lost :(

This problem happened with BOINC 4.09 but 4.05 has not this problem (it seems).

Sorry for my terrible English :( I hope you can understand me and my problem.

Yes, it seems this was for the first loaded themes.

There are small memory leaks in sixtrack 4.46 graphics, I think.

On every "show graphics" WinTaskMan shows that Mem Usage increases at 200~400 Kb and VM Size increases at 100~300 Kb.

Also every time when theme changes MemUsage increases at approx. 8 Kb.

My cfg:
BOINC 4.09, LHC 4.46, CPDN 4.03, S@H 4.03
WinXP SP1 Prof
P4-2.6GHz, 512Mb RAM
