Maximum daily WU quota per CPU?
(Message 17636)
Posted 30 Jul 2007 by ![]() Post: I run a lappy too, works OK but for when it is docked and it is fairly warm inside (above 25C). It then heats up to sometimes above 65C, so I then throttle it down to 80% or 85%. BOINC throttling is not perfect, but working well enough for me. |

The new look bugs
(Message 17212)
Posted 3 Jul 2007 by ![]() Post: A note on the cosmetics of the 'my results' page. Each row is spread out over four lines with quite some linespacing in it. For 20 results that means 2 full pagescrolls (XP SP2, IE6, little make-up) needed to show them all. Let alone if one day LHC were to decide to show 50 results at once, something I personally prefer above just 20. Some minor flaws (empty lines) in the header too. [edit] My computers is even worse with 4 - 5 hosts per page (screen). The Your Account page could also use a make-over as can the homepage. And I can only imagine what the pending credits page will look like... In general the linespacing could be quite a bit less in my opinion. My browser is set to a normal character size @ 1280x1024. |

Posted 3 Jul 2007 by ![]() Post: Got one here, trying to create a profile with a pic (Win XP Home SP2): Fatal error: Call to undefined function imageCreateFromJPEG() in /srv/httpd/lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/html/inc/profile.inc on line 322 edit: tried to update my profile and add a pic, same result. Also escape characters were added before the single quotes in my profile, each edit I have to remove them. Not really an error (I'm old enough to understand the need for escape chars) but something to be aware of. |

Posted 21 Jun 2007 by ![]() Post: There's definitely progress being made, all my hosts with 0 (zero) credits are gone now. Last time I checked was a week ago when cleaning up a load of duplicates. Could have skipped that as they would have been removed too... Oh, well, better this progress than none at all! It gives me the confidence that soon everything will be in order. Including stats. And if soon means another month it won't bother me, there's more BOINC projects out there than one can count with both fingers AND toes ! [edited typo] |

Merge??
(Message 17036)
Posted 15 Jun 2007 by ![]() Post: Thanks Jim, but I pretty much stay on top up of keeping my managers updated. That particular box hasen't even done a wu yet and it's listed.....I think, if I remember right, 187 times! Would it work if I detached that box and tryed to reattach it? And do you know if I could take care of this through bam or is bam the problem? I also had a host with no credits yet and 200+ ghost-hosts. Merging them took some trouble, 'select all' didn't work but selecting say 30 at a time and then merging them went OK. And do remember to merge the old ones with the latest one, not the other way around (I found out the hard way)... The host is now happily in the DB all by itself, just checked and still the ghost-hosts are gone. The host was effectively retired by the way (hostname changed after owner had W*dows reinstalled), I'm gonna delete it soon. |

Posted 7 Mar 2007 by ![]() Post: Now I know WU lengths at LHC can vary a lot. But one of my comps got 7 and they all took a few seconds, eg. http://lhcathome.cern.ch/workunit.php?wuid=1652001. Is that normal? |

(Message 15931)
Posted 29 Dec 2006 by ![]() Post: Got a day's worth on each of 2 boxes. That's enough for me, there's more to BOINC than just LHC ;-). Front page says there are still over 40k more WUs to send. (some sarcasm sneaks in) What's wrong with that? - Are all those huge caches full? - Is it still a secret LHC has work again? - Is everybody behaving nicely and just taking (or: getting?) a decent amount? - Aren't there that many LHC crunchers (anymore)? - Is there simply more than enough work (1 WU = 5 results, right?) to last at least this long? - Are a lot of comps still on the dreaded 1 week timeout? - Some (all?) of the above? |
