@ John McLeod ... hahahaha really, well In my opinion it does a piss poor job of it ...

I have the LHC Project set to 10,000 Resource & CPDN set to 1, so why does the 2 CPDN WU's I have one each computer continue to run endlessly even though I have LHC WU's waiting to run.

The only way I can get the LHC WU's to run is to manually Suspend 1 of the CPDN WU's so the LHC WU's will start to run ... And don't give me that jargon about bring in debt to the CPDN Project. I don't owe any of the Projects anything, they'll get what I give them & nothing more ...

All the Projects I run I set to 1 except for the LHC Project which I set to 10,000 because thats what I want running if I have any WU's available, I keep on top of my Computers and the WU's I have from the other Projects & I'll worry about the Deadlines of the other Projects...I don't need some manager forcing me to run what I don't want to run at the moment...

To me it seems the whole BOINC Manager thingy is moving more & more toward where you are being forced to run what they want you to run & not what you want to run. The v4.43 is a prime example of this movement. I've yet been able to Download what I want, only what the Manager whats to give me no matter what I set my Preferences to ...

If it gets to the point I'm only running what the Projects as a whole wants to give me & it's not what I want to run I'll give it serious consideration of just not running them at all ...

I look at it this way, it's costing me between $50 & $70 a month in Electrical Bills to run the Projects & I will either run what I want to run or nothing at all ...

I had v4.43 installed on 7 different Computers Chrulle, I never was able to get any work from LHC with that client, as soon as I switched back to v4.25 I started getting WU's again ...

I don't know if it was a bug or not but I for 1 will not run the v4.43 Client again until somebody says they can actually get WU's from LHC with it ...

==========

I don't know if that is true or not Travis but both the Seti Site & the LHC Site have the v4.43 listed as the Recommended Version and the 4.19 as the Older Version ...

Personally I have run the v4.25 for quite some time now with no problems, I have version 4.43 installed also but I've have never been able to get any LHC WU's with it while I can get a few LHC WU's now & then with the v4.25 even though the Site says it's out of work ... :P

My Pending Credit has dropped a little bit so something is working again ... :)

@LB ... Whats wrong with wanting Credit for WU's that are turned in before the Deadline & are Valid WU's & Request the Proper amount of Credit, I can't help it if the Server sends the same WU's out to 6 Dozen people and only the first 3 or 4 people that turn in the WU will get Credit & the rest can go Kiss the Sky ... Thats a hell of a way to run a Project and attract new Clients IMO ... Any body that asks me about the LHC Project I just tell them to go buy a big jar of Vaseline because their going to need it ... :P

The Server has been like this since about 7 PM EST last night, all the WU's are going into the Pending Account's. I hope this isn't going to be like the last time my pending credit jumped over 3000 credits and no Credit was or will be granted for any of them that are dumped into the pending accounts ... Since last night my Pending Credit has gone up over 1000 credits again ...

Maybe not, but I've been using v4.25 for quite awhile now without any problems.
The last few days I've even been running v4.42 on all my PC's without on problems so far ... :)

The new v4.42 release seems to have fixed the no Report for finished WU's problem, I tried it on 1 PC after a few people in the Seti Forum said they were able to Report finished WU's with it & it worked for me too ...

As far as I have been able to tell, that is the bug they are chasing. One of the reasons I am glad I stuck with earlier versions. :)

Yup, I just went back to v4.25 & Reported the WU's, I won't go with a newer version again until I check the Seti Site first for bug's on the release. It's to much hassle switching version all the time & then you take the chance of messing things up & losing the WU's too ...

I'm still playing around with the new v4.41 on 1 PC Paul, it seems to work ok as far as running the WU's but so far I haven't been able to Report any Finished WU's with it.

All I get is the following Message when I do an Update to try and Report any Finished WU's ... ???

AM||request_reschedule_cpus: project op

Any Ideas or is this a bug or what, I'll get the finished WU's Reported if I have to go back to v4.25 but would like to keep running the v4.41 if I can get them Reported with it ...

PS: I went over to the Seti site because I seen a Thread there started on the v4.41 & apparently it's a known bug & other people are having the same problem reporting WU's to the other Sites too. Rom Walton said there would be a fix in the next release ...

I tried the new v4.41 out on 1 PC, quite borked IMO ... hehe

I got all kinds of weird messages, it wouldn't report a finished WU no matter what I tried, it said something about the CPU needing to be scheduled ( Maybe we need to make an appointment before getting any new WU's ... :P) & something about the WU's deadlines were before the reconnect time ... I just went back to v4.25 again with no problems ... :)

Ok, I'll send you all the ones that the Server has no use for anymore & that will recieve no Credit just to keep you happy crunching Redundant WU's ...

I agree LB, since I keep a rather high amount of WU's in my Caches I'm going to keep a close eye on my pending credits & if it starts to abnormally rise again like the last time then I think it will be time to do a little Spring Cleaning and & get rid of the WU's I have left ...

I don't need to spend several more days running WU's that are not going anywhere to start with & are not needed by the Server anymore like the last time my pending credits took a leap upward ...

It's just the over-eager file deleter program which does its work correctly in principle, but because of high redundancy currently used, some results will always be delivered after the other files have been deleted.
==========

This does not sit well with me at all, the LHC Project justs needs to start ignoring the all Cry Baby's that instantly start Whining for more Wu's when the Server runs out of work to do ... If there's no WU's to do then there's no WU's to do, thats what the other Projects are for ...

It doesn't do anybody any good at all when the Server starts sending out Redundant Wu's that have no chance to get any Credit just to pacify the Cry Baby's ...

It's a absolute waste of my CPU Time and the Servers Resources for me to be Processing WU's that the Server has no use for anymore, that CPU Time could be better spent Processing WU's for a Project that needs the WU's done and still has a use for them ... IMO
